Here is one and you can click through to the rest: We had not really furnished at this point so the pillows, table, chairs are not mine, and the pix do not show my favorite things, the knobs and the curtains: On the Marmoleum, I chickened out on Relaxing Lagoon and went with Volcanic Ash. (Although I did put Relaxing Lagoon in my laundry along with some crazy pink curtains and love it.) Feel free to ask any questions if you want specifics on anything.

I like all the alternative ideas for heating, but I'm also thinking about what you could do with your existing kitchen as an alternative to moving to the garage. What does the current space look like? I say this because we had planned to add on to a family home and had even drawn up architectural plans, cleared with the county building dept., and priced out the whole project. Unfortunately, the pricing out turned out to be more expensive than the value of the house and land warranted. Plan 2 was make our kitchen in our current house larger. We really tried, but there was no reasonable way to do it. Believe me when I say I feel your pain. Plan 3 was redo our existing space. We've done that and couldn't be more pleased. My daughter who grew up in this house was here for Thanksgiving and commented several times what a pleasure it was to work in there, so much easier than before, and before wasn't terrible. The moral of the story is: If at first you don't succeed...

I'm 54 and I feel old. It's my attitude and I know it's not a good one. I used to look a lot younger than my age. Ever since I went Hypothyroid I have noticed I'm aging a lot faster. I have an appointment with an eye doctor on Monday. Just in the last few months my upper lids have drooped. My eyes seem swollen and watery and they are always red. I'm hoping it's allergies but this just came about recently. It could be Thyroid. I saw Christie Brinkly on T.V. the other day. She is 55 and looks like she's 30. I try to keep a mental picture of her in my mind. Whenever I'm feeling old I think of her and tell myself, "If Christie can look young so can I". Yesterday I was shopping for a face primer in Sephora. A young salesgirl tells me, "here try this, my mom uses it and loves that it covers fine lines and wrinkles". That didn't help at all. Donna

Not a pro. Just some thoughts. Budget and building codes permitting, of course, the most obvious solution to aside entry would be to move your carport/parking space(s) to in the front of the house in front of the right side of the existing carport but also in front of the left front exterior wall of your house and build a foyer with a front/street facing door on the side of the house at the entry door. Your walk path toward a new front porch and foyer built on the left side of the house would be beside your future carport. If only landscaping is in your budget, consider planting any shrubs or trees you add for privacy away from the front exterior wall of the house to enable you to create at least a short walk path directly in front of your front exterior wall of your home along side your driveway to aim your visitors toward the carport where your entry door is located and, perhaps, a small patio between the green privacy wall and the left front corner of the house.. If, however, you can alter your entry: Enclose your new entry foyer at the current entry door and also enclose the rest of what is now carport behind it to create the entry foyer. Unless your door is very close to the front, you could leave the area between the new foyer and the front exterior wall of the house as front porch. In front of the new front porch and your front exterior wall of your home, beneath front window height, create a forward facing front gable using the same left slope as the roof over the new foyer and porch about six feet deep, adding to your front porch in front of your foyer. To create your new carport on and to the right of your existing driveway, extend the right slope of that forward facing gable to make your carport as long as it needs to be -- and you could also have the carport roof continue part of the left slope of that forward facing gable shape (perhaps a third or even half the way down) shape so the left slope covers a walk path alongside your new carport.
