Open family room furniture placement
Comments (12)You need to keep the walking flowing. Is the light fixture in line with the hall doorway and the door to go outside? I am thinking you could do two loveseats. One on the wall and another dividing the rooms as a "wall". The table could go between the "wall" loveseat and the island. Your walkway would be a circle around the table. My friend has hers like this but she has a square table. I think round makes the table seem less in the way than a square would. If you did this you would not want a long sofa table behind the "wall" sofa because I do not think you have enough room. You have windows like I do, really consider how much light will glare on tv if it is put on the windowless wall. I finally got shutters which help but am now resorting to the tv over the fireplace. I was also thinking a sectional would be great in your space but some would not like that you can only get to seating from one opening. But it would give you good direction and seating for tv viewing. A "wall" would give two entrances to that area. You could possibly do a sofa on the wall and float a loveseat, but that depends on wall length of course....See MoreHelp with furniture layout in open concept family room
Comments (2)That might work I would discourage the chaise on the sectional just do an ottoman same sitting comfort but much nicer seating when you company. IMO thi s is ahuge space that is poorly laid out the DR table needs to be about 3x the size I would put it infront of the patio doors off the kitchen then you would have a huge LR with a couple of seating arragements one in front of the fireplace and one for T.V viewing all pieces that can be moved when you have a crowd. We have a large LR and I puposely bought piecs that could be rearranged for different looks and purposes like the Christmas tree for instance .So I have 2 sofas, a chairs that do not match the sofa or each other but work in the space a long bench that can be moved easily wherever I need it I really dislike sectionals because they are so site specific and in your space I think if possible think many useful pieces that can move easily ....See MoreHelp with open concept living/dining/kitchen furniture placement
Comments (3)Regarding the window that faces your neighbor, if you want to take advantage of the natural light you may want to get sheers. The size dining table will depend on how many people you usually have sitting there to eat. My dining table has a leaf in it, in case I need to expand it. I find that very helpful. A round table will be easier to get around than a square or rectangular one. An oval one may be even better. Depends on your needs. A chaise is very pretty, but I don't know how practical it is. I personally like more space to move around in than stuff. You have to consider the amount of space you have to work with. Try to make lighting an important part of your plan. I like a table lamp or wall sconce in each corner at chest height....See MoreOpen Concept Family Room
Comments (11)I would do my best to get an idea of how your furniture will be arranged in the room and place the outlets UNDER where the furniture will be (so outlets will be out of sight). There is really no need to have them out in the open as you will normally be plugging a lamp in and not need to access the outlet again. Under the furniture (centering under a sofa or chair) keeps the ugly wires out of sight for a much cleaner/neater look (you wont see the plug sticking up out of the outlet when hidden under furniture). You can also hide extension cords under a sofa and plug a lamp into that, which actually makes plugging in multiple items easy to access....See Moresuezbell
