painting kitchen cabinets to a cream color
Comments (6)Agree with eastautumn. Can you add pictures with the cream paint swatches you are considering next to whatever is permanent? For instance, the countertops looks nice, so will they stay? Hard to tell, but do they have cream in them? They look to be more white and grey in the photo. Will your white table and chairs stay? The terracotta colored tile floors? I know it can be so hard to chose paint because the colors can look so different once in your home and lighting. It can even change because it is reflecting off of a strong floor or wall color. The undertones can vary so much and get confusing. Some may lean yellow, or brown, green, or even pink. Do you know anyone that has a good eye for color that can come over and help you choose? I also think it would be good to get small paint samples once you narrow it down and paint some poster boards. Live with them up for several days, moving them around the kitchen, so you can see the color at all times of day or night. I also wanted to mention about the hardware. I know you said you are not changing them at this time and that is perfectly fine. But you might think about whether you would prefer the knobs to be in a different location in the future. They are fine like you have them, but maybe the upper knobs are higher then you’d like, and vice versa on the base cabs. Or maybe you would want to change them out for handles someday? Since you’d need to use that existing hole or cover over it, make sure it will work with whatever handle style or size you like. If it will be an issue, it would be so much easier to deal with before new paint as they can fill the holes....See MoreHELP! Painting kitchen cabinets to not clash with granite counters
Comments (8)This is akin to picking an outfit. Many whites don't play well together. Have you ever picked out a white shirt with some pretty design and thought "I have white shorts I can wear with this" only to come home and put the two whites together and one looks dull/dingy or pink or yellow or blue compared to the other. Same thing happens in houses. The more whites you try to use in a space the more likely you will get two that don't like each other. What is your trim color? Does this color go through the rest of the house? You need a white that works with your counter, works with your trim, and yes, if you are changing floors, it has to work with the floors as well. Most designers will tell you to find one that works well with your counters and floors and paint the cabinets, trim, doors and ceiling with the same white in different sheens to avoid the pitfalls of trying to make too many whites work together....See MorePainting Kitchen Cabinets
Comments (19)As mentioned I don't know the extent of your renovation plan and precisely the direction you're taking. However, here are a few illustrations of MCM styles that would look nice with kitchen I suggested above. If you don't have enough wood detail in the house, you can add a section of wood slats in a prominent area. I would keep the wood doors for the MCM look but I would paint the mouldings especially if they're old and not in good shape. Note: The moulding for the kitchen window I show is black but all other windows don't need to be black....See Moreideas for painting kitchen cabinets
Comments (10)Any of those warranties are for the original purchaser so lifetime of them so no warranty here for sure. I agree 10k will get you a finish that might not even last the 10 yrs you. I have no idea why anyone would prefer to get on their hands and knees to access lower cabinet storage when drawers are so accessible .BTW any cabinet made in China might ahve a warranty but try to use it you will need to pay the shipping to China to get any kind of action so IMO buyer beware . A lifetime warranty is only as good as the maker wants it to be . Just read the disclaimers normal wear and tear is not covered ....See MoreUser
