Ya, I did the google but was wondering if anyone had personal experience with a lighting company that offers this kind of thing. The particular shade I linked to is $45. Lighting Direct offers one that looks similar for about $15. That made me wonder what suppliers people might have actually used.

I've ordered many glass shades for chandelier/wall sconces that we manufacture, and the price does vary greatly depending on where the glass is made and also the quantities produced at one time. I actually found the least expensive glass source in New Jersey, but they had a minimum order of 1,000 which was not a problem, since our chandeliers require eight glass shades each, and the price was lower than ordering 200 shades from France or Italy. We also have wall sconces that use the same shade. An older chandelier that we make only has six shades per chandelier, however. I used to get custom glass shades made in France by Vianne, but when the company went out of business, the French government confiscated our molds, and so I no longer order glass from France.

The light fixture in my house has a 1-1/8" fitting, and that is what I use at work, but it is very difficult to find retail.

I think Lighting Direct is a good source - I talked with them on the phone, and they were very helpful and even recommended other sources.

Well it wasn't Lighting Direct after all, it was Destination Lighting. I ended up ordering shades from them that look pretty much like the one I linked above only less expensive. Thought I'd try it and see if they look okay - they seem like they may be more gold/brown vs. a more creamy color. If I don't like them I'll return and get the others. If I do like I may get same in a different shape for the nearby chandelier in the dining room.
