Most traditional innerspring mattresses will probably fail in another couple of years and in a similar way to the mattress you're replacing. We relegated an old 'S' brand queen size mattress to the dustbin of history with a 100% latex mattress and never looked back. Wife says that even hotel beds don't compare to the sleep she gets at home. There are a number of makers (including the 'S' brands) - while you're browsing and testing them out, look at the tag and make sure it's 100% latex and not an innerspring / latex combination. The latex foam also comes in a variety of densities to match your sleeping position (such as side, stomach, back). Hope this helps!

We have a no flip. The pillow top was shot. Guess what? We flipped it and put the 3" memory foam pad on it that we already had and figured we'd try it for a night. Worst case we'd get a bad nights sleep and need to buy a new mattress. Best case? It's fine. Guess what? We slept on it that first night LIKE BABIES and we have been sleeping on it like that for OVER A YEAR. It's firm, but the 3" memory foam pad is so soft yet firm somehow. It feels AMAZING. When we do go and search for a new mattress someday, if it doesn't feel like our current flipped and memory foam padded "No flip" pillow top mattress, we won't get it. We've never slept better! NO NONSENSE. Try it. You have very little to lose except maybe a nights sleep. We gained better sleep. I'm sure someone from a Mattress store is going to show up and tell me how I'm full of it. No, I'm not. You are.

I too have a serious back problem and my wife often has difficulty with "hot flashes at night". We researched and tested many brands including Shifman, Hypnos, S&F, Beautyrest, Simmons, Serta, Kluft and finally decided on Royal Pedic. We purchased a box spring (required by the manufacturer for the warranty), the standard 8" thick all cotton mattress with a 4" thick organic topper with organis wool and latex. While this was an expensive combination our research strongly suggested this was a quality purchase that still reflected real value. We have had the new set for about a month and we absolutely love the restfull sleep we get. My wife is very pleased with the cool comfort of the organic wool/latex/organic cotton cover topper and my back has not fealt this good for longer than I can remember. I wake up and spring out of bed, fully rested and pain free. We certainly would recommend you try Royal Pedic if you can find a dealer. Cuse69

I spent almost 6 months looking at mattresses before deciding on a Sealy Posturepedic. Firstly, they get the best overall reviews and it was easier to shop one brand than the total confusion of all of them out there. I was almost afraid to buy one as so confused and afraid to get it wrong. My advice: 1. Try Sealy Posturepedic. 2. Also try their new latex models called "Spring Free" but $2199 for a queen set. 3. Stay away from those Sleepy stores as they have their prices marked so high and then say they are cutting you a deal and still higher than other places. 4. Buy the set from a department store that has a "comfort return" and some will let you try it at home for 30 days and then for just a delivery fee with let you exchange it for another. 5. You should be able to find a good sale and get a quality queen set for $1199 or less. 6. I agree to stay away from the pillowtops. 7. Shop and write down the names and do a google search and read reviews and cross reference list to see what the same set is called in different stores. The one we ended up with was called Pine Grove in Boscovs, Pearl in Sears, and discovered we liked it the best in both stores before knowing it was the same style. 8. Also, be sure and question the mattress height as you may want to order a "low profile" boxspring which are only 4 inches high to avoid needing a step ladder to get up onto these new thick mattresses.
