Remodeling Design Dilemma Kitchens

i need help! these are the dimensions of my kitchen/mudroom. i need a new set up. so this is the blank slate. the stairs are actually basement stairs so they arent actually above ground. no way to change it :( so i need a entry/mud room area. the entry door can only go on walls on the top of the picture. also on the bottom of the picture i need a doorway into our living space. otherwise have fun! let me see your ideas please!

With the small amount of info given, and no info for windows, I'll play. The squares on the grid appear to be neither 12" nor 6", so scale is off.

Doors into the room? Plumbing there and can it be moved? Windows? Is there a wall between the stairs and the room? Is there a door to the stairs? Other rooms and where are they in relation to this room?

Are there any windows/doors? If yes where they located, sizes, etc. Without all of the details, this picture looks like a playground with stairs and landing, the only thing is missing is a slide.

You are best to go introduce yourself to the kitchen forum, and post your dimensions (read their thread: "NEW to kitchens, read me first" (or something)). And, they will totally help you out in ways the remodeling forum only kind of can (lots of crossover, but the kitchen people really hang out on kitchens). Also, when you do post there, don't reply to your own thread before someone else does; otherwise your thread will drop down. As long as it is "unanswered" it stays on the first page. But, if you do as you did here, your post will drop down and because that is a very busy forum, it may get "lost"... So, best to get everything on one post, then wait for someone to reply before you any details you forgot.

Do a floor plan and make the smaller angled end of the room the dining area. As is now the table and chairs are wasting a lot of precious space. You can leave the t v where it is. With an app, have the screen become art work, or a simulated fireplace…. Put a sofa on the solid wall with floor lamps, sleek coffee table, with a colorful rug under, and two small swivel chairs to complete the vignette. Swivel chairs are valuable to your space, as they can turn toward both the sofa and the t v.

Obviously the pano lens for realty pix has warped perspective a bit. At least with the TV on the longer wall you could watch from the breakfast nook. As I said above, I would float a sectional in the center of the room with one wing facing the TV on that big wall and the other facing the windows/view. The free standing wall would make a great spot for a tall piece of casegoods like a bookcase or secretary. Are you buying all new furniture or using what you have? Maybe we need to see pix of your stuff that you're contemplating using here.

trying to figure what would be the best layout for this room? The front entrance comes straight into the living room and there is a window bench, that I don't want to block. the dining room table and hutch is going in the area beside the kitchen. I want it to be cozy and comfy to watch tv, but not cramped.

Thanks, Kathi, it's a slider/barn door, if that's the landing at the top of the stairs. If not--back to the drawing board.

Thanks for your input! Basically as u said to begin with a door to the outside on any wall in the top. The top and right wall are exterior walls. One door on the bottom wall is needs to go I to the living area. Oh and I forgot. This i a dining area too

You need a new house. 50 pounds doesn’t fit in a 5 lb sack. Especially one with no real information and no attempt to cooperate in communicating the pertinent information.

I am unsure as to how I am not cooperating? I want ideas. And it is an open discussion. Nothing besides where I need doors. Plumbing and the like could be moved if needed.

Do you have a 100K+ budget to move plumbing, with ndows, and doors? If not, you start by working with things where they are.

And you work with a KD. Whom you pay to drag all of the pertinent details out of you.
