Indoor Fiddle Leaf Fig.

I recently purchased a Fiddle Leaf Fig at my local Home Depot here in Hawaii. I noticed that there are a lot of roots above the soil. I was wondering what I should do about it, in terms of aesthetics. Do I cover the roots with more soil? Can you cut them or will it hurt the plant? Thanks for you time and consideration. I'm fairly new to caring for plants and any help would be appreciated.
