Granite Seam help and opinion
Comments (5)kimg8, you can post a second photo in another post in this thread. [Okay: looks like you did so while I was writing this.] You can even make 2 consecutive posts in the same thread, but as GW's software is a bit paranoid about spam, you may need to change what's in the Subject of Posting box before you can send the post. If your photos are stored somewhere on the web (for example, a photo-hosting site like Photobucket or flickr), it is possible to put multiple photos in the same post. Comments (8)You're not being picky, but fortunately I don't think it's as bad as you fear. Keeping in mind that I'm no expert on this, I think that your installer can come back and make that seam smooth and level without too much trouble. He/they can definitely fix the resin blob issue. Try speaking to the installer himself first, and if you're not comfortable with his response, contact the retailer. If installer A can't/won't finish the job, insist that someone else come and do it. If you get no traction with the retailer you can always say you're going to contact your credit card company and withhold payment until the job is finished. I think that's all it is - a matter of finishing the job appropriately....See MoreSeam(s) in granite around the kitchen sink
Comments (6)Rodding is old-school and is only necessary on very fragile stones or unusual situations. The problem is that many fabricators don't do it right. They use polyester instead of epoxy for bedding which isn't nearly as water resistant and cold steel instead of stainless or fiberglas rods which won't rust. I'm going to fix an exploded (oxidized) rod tomorrow. I hate it when they're in the back of the sink instead of the front. $800-$1,600.00 with no guarantee on appearance or durability and it's still a very cost effective alternative to replacement....See MoreHelp! I need advice on granite install seam and chip "repair"
Comments (0)Hi everyone. We did an entire condo gut in Florida. They came to install the kitchen and bath granite finally last Wednesday night to finish a job started on Tuesday. They had to come back because the brought the wrong sink with them the first day. We ordered a super single rounded bottom corner sink as we were told it would be easier for my mom to keep clean as she has failing eyesight. Instead they brought a sharp corner split sink. We were forced to accept a large single sharp corner (forgive me I don't know the "real" name for them) as the sink we wanted would not fit. We are unhappy with the seams around the sink as well as a large chip and roughness next to the slide in oven. It appears to be some sort of epoxy they used to fix the chip but it is lifeless, one color and looks like cement. In addition, I am wondering if the change in sink is why there is such a large seam around the sink? And, should the granite be so scratchy and dull? Any advice would be so helpful!...See Moremark_rachel
