Is this creeping charlie?

Attached some photos of a weed which is growing on my dormant bermuda.

1. Is this creeping charlie?

2. Can I spray weed-b-gone on this as the bermuda is dormant?

I have a 0-0-7 pre-emergent (Sunniland from Lowes) which I started to put down and understand it doesn't control all weeds but it did a good job of controlling crabgrass. But if I spray weed-b-gone for now and help my bermuda to grow well (mow right height,fertilize,irrigate) in the Summer. The goal is to let bermuda take over and over power the weeds. Is this a fair plan to get on a pre-emergent schedule which I am started last fall and put down fertilizer as needed for a year and see if that helps?

Or should I resort to an application of Barricade -

Prodiamine 65 WDG Generic Barricade

(liquid form) for the weeds which 0-0-7 couldn't control?

The weed shown below is is found on the side of my house where I pulled out crab-grass last year but I applied pre-emergent. Also this side of the house has shade around 50% of the day.

Creeping Charlie has leaves about the size of a silver dollar, so no, that is not creeping Charlie. It should respond to Weed-b-Gon or Weed-b-Gon Chickweed, Clover, and Oxalis Killer without hurting the bermuda even if the bermuda is green and growing. I'm assuming this is not a fancy hybrid bermuda sod.

Bermuda cannot thrive with 50% sunlight. It will thin out and then wear and tear will kill it the rest of the way. You might want to put in some St Augustine in the shady area. St Aug will flat out dominate all other grasses in the shade.

Thank you! I doubt the bermuda we have is anything fancy. It is builder grade but no idea what type of bermuda it is.

Sorry for the delay, I was somewhere between "busy" and "completely hammered." You can blanket spray in a backpack or 1 gallon sprayer, no problem! Then, when smaller patches re-sprout from the seeds, use the tiny sprayer. In the future, they sell concentrates for hose-end application or dilution in your 1-gallon sprayer--and they tend to be a lot cheaper. A pre-emergent next April or May will serve you well here, too. It'll stop the seeds from sprouting.

I would install some kind of edging; metal, brick, wood, . . . there are many materials and techniques you could choose from, see https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=edging&FORM=HDRSC2 Adding another aggressively spreading plant could only make the situation worse.

For a lawn with Creeping Charlie, you want to use this: https://www.domyown.com/hiyield-triclopyr-ester-p-4543.html It takes a few applications, but my lawn went from like 35% Creeping Charlie\Wild Violet to virtually nothing. Yes, it's a herbicide, but Creeping Charlie is pretty much impossible to control organically. I have never sprayed this on my garden bed though, so I don't know if it would damage garden plants or not (I probably wouldn't try it unless you can spray with pinpoint accuracy), but it works wonders for a lawn!

Creeping charlie, bane of my existence! It thrives throughout my whole neighborhood. Before we moved in, no one mowed our yard regularly and the tall (8" or so) unkempt grasses kept the CC in check. Regular mowing allowed the CC more sunlight and it took off. The way I control it now -- hand picking the longest strands from the middle of the yard. Where CC creeps in under the neighbor's fence, I plant a 12 to 18" border of winter rye that I allow to get full height. It's so thick that CC can't work it's way through. (And my dogs love eating rye grass, the young one must be part cow.) In my garden area, CC is a problem because it springs up so early in the year it chokes out the wildflowers before they can reseed themselves. And it creeps through the native grasses and chokes them too. What I've done there, to confine it to the very back under established shrubs and trees, is to lay a border of boards on the ground. That way I can see it as it crosses the board-walk, and can lift up the boards to grub out the tendrils that try to make in underneath. As a good point, bees love it early in the year as a nectar source. If it just had better manners ...!

Uh-oh. Builder grade is some of the best bermuda you can get. Seriously. 95% of builder grade bermuda is a hybrid sod called Tif 419. It is grown so extensively by sod farms that the cost has dropped to rock bottom, for sod. There are better bermudas, but TIF 419 is one of the best. DO NOT seed bags of bermuda seed into that lawn. The common seed you buy in the stores is not the same plant and will look different in the turf. With that in mind you might need to use something other than Weed-b-Gon products. Read the label of any herbicide you use to see if it is safe for hybrid bermudas. There may be some here who know more about herbicides for bermuda. I have not kept myself informed about the specialty herbicides.

Ok I have heard of "builder grade" being mentioned on this forum and various places. I didn't realize it was a type of bermuda, I interpreted it as some cheap bermuda the builder puts down:). We moved to this home couple of years back, so i mean't whatever the builder had put down 10 years back. No idea on the history of this lawn prior to our ownership to be honest. Our right side of the home has some junipers and we are always battling with hand-picking weeds and then laying pine-needles. This summer we decided to pull out these junipers and lay bermuda sod. I think the type if Tif 419. Yes I went the seed route for a small patch and it grew but it was a different green :) . It took ages to grow and I decided not to grow it.

TIF 419 has been the preferred contractor grade grass since the 1960s.
