Thanks for the question. These are actually steel slats, not wood. The durability, consistency and being able to keep perfectly sharp lines without warping is why we used these. This was custom made, but very easy, simply using stock tube steel and a good welder/ metal worker.

Cost really depends on location since a great deal of this was labor costs of constructing. We built in Los Angeles, which is typically more expensive than most other areas to build. Certain items like the firepit were products that could be purchased online from Art Asia and cost $600 at the time (without the fire ring, fire glass, and gas line installation).

Yes, this could withstand Florida weather, but since the Trellis is made entirely of steel, it would need to be extensively primed and painted several coats to avoid rusting. Another option would be stainless steel or aluminum.
