Itty Bitty Microwave Ovens?
Comments (2)There's the GE Spacemaker Microwaves. They can be hung under your cabinetry or placed on a shallow shelf in your cabinetry. Also, there's a Sharp microwave R-1214 that is an "over the counter" microwave. You could also ask this question on the Appliances Forum where microwaves have been discussed extensively....See Moreinitial kitchen remodel issues
Comments (2)I recommend reading the sticky at the top of this forum and sharing a bit about your budget and what you hope to achieve with your remodel. It's a great idea to start with a 3D kitchen planning program to work on the layout, even if you don't use that manufacturer. I really liked the one on IKEA.com. I am very happy with my choice to use IKEA cabinets with custom fronts. Installation in progress :)...See MoreViking Electric Oven - Anyone Happy? (27" Oven needed)
Comments (2)I would write off Viking. Their current owners are embattled with the previous owners over the sale of the company and its condition at the point of sales. Reports of service recently have not been promising either. I have an older 27" oven from Miele. It is over 10yrs old and my cabinet can accommodate a 30" model. I am not sure I would buy a 27" as a replacement. If I were in your shoes, I would replace it with a 30". Good luck!...See MoreHow to get started with a kitchen and bath remodel with other issues.
Comments (17)This feels like a six-figure list, but hard to say much beyond that to price. Don't understand Sophie's dismissal of solar -- ours has a 10-year payback estimate, and that's before we sell any credits. It's great to have zero heating costs at some times of the year, to feel like we're decreasing our environmental footprint, and to hope someday to run our car off the system too. For your project, agree with aprilneverends about just getting some contractors to walk through it with you. It will clarify some things (probably none of them have solar connections, or you'll find out there are zoning issues, or whatev.), it will give you some numbers, and they may have advice about how to think about the projects in the sense of logistics (can you live there, etc) that will help you plan and even assess your enthusiasm. For sure, I wouldn't sweat a designer yet, although you will probably want a kitchen specialist to help you get the most from your enlarged kitchen space. Are there some parts of this project that are needs and others that are wants? because you might decide you don't need to do it all. Your kitchen looks pretty great for a family of four, for example, and I'm not sure you'll ever get back the (extravagent) cost of getting an extra 3-4 feet in each direction......See MoreMrs. Gopher #BringBackSophie
