Take a chance! This is a playroom, so play a little bit. Its only paint - the cheapest change you can make. Don't deprive your kids of a colorful childhood, just because it isn't comfortable for you. I know a dermatologist who swaths her kids in huge hats, long sleeves and gloves in July - its her thing. I bet they'll hate it forever and will go naked outside as soon as they can get away!

Thanks for the input so far. I'm also interested to know if there are any opinions on that particular color vs. another bright color. I don't know if trying to match the blues is the way to go or not.

I'd paint the walls blue but the swatch on the wall seems too baby-blue.

The swatch on the wall is too dark. I made the same mistake in our small playroom. The shade is very similar to yours as is the darkness. I'm going to repaint as soon as it's feasible.

Our kids are more happy playing in our living room, painted Rainwashed by Sherwin Williams. It's a slightly greyed down, ever so slightly green light blue. Not quite turquoise. It feels open and airy, gives a great sense of a sunny day outside. I would highly recommend you give it a good size sample on a piece of foam board in this room. It will transition nicely to the other more muted rooms in your house too. Plays nicely with warm browns and with grey. Can't say enough good about it!
