Did I make a mistake?

Our kitchen had these cheap black IKEA cabinets that showed every fingerprint and had some chips on them, but instead of replacing them with new IKEA cabinet fronts, I took them off and painted the top cabinets white and the bottom cabinets French grey with chalk paint and then sealed with polycrylic. The finish actually looks pretty good. No paint brush streaks or paint drips, etc. But then when I put them back into the kitchen, it doesn't look how I imagined.

Things I'm considering:

1. Get over it (and finish painting the bottom remaining black parts the same French grey as the cabinet fronts).

2. Re-paint the bottom cabinets a darker grey (like charcoal grey).

3. Buy new ikea cabinet fronts for the bottom shelves (such as these high gloss turquoise ones)

4. Try to cover the bottom cabinets with some sort of transparent adhesive decal that has a pattern (in black presumably) dense enough that the end result is a patterned set of lower cabinets that look like a darker grey.

Opinions or ideas?

Thank you!
