I am in exactly the same place with my red oak floors :( my floors look just as orange as in the pictures... and the variations and wood grain are much more pronounced than I wanted. I have the flooring company coming in on Monday to put down the third coat of poly - do I have any options at this point? Or just a matter of it mattering less once I get more used to the new color...? I had this same level of shock and discomfort with my wall color (had to leave my apartment for the evening just to soothe myself!), but once they sanded the floors - I realized I loved the wall color, just that my old floor finish was clashing with it. Now after staining the floor - I am back to feeling they really clash... and I really wish I had just opted for no stain and a natural finish instead... I’d take that look over what I now have any day. At least - that’s how it feels right now. To the original poster - @lacollar - (or anyone else with a similar experience) - did you eventually get used to (or even fall in love with?! :)) your floors... even though at first it felt like the choice of stain color was a huge mistake? Has anyone tried tinting the final coat to tone down the orange/reds? Does that work? Appreciate any help/advice. Thank you all!

Okay - late to the party. I want hardwood floor in every room in my house except the bathrooms, where I prefer tile. I do have antique wool oriental rugs in all rooms. But if I could afford it, I would have some wonderful Stark wool carpet in my bedroom. Since the room is 24'x24', that is out of the question. Yes, I DO have allergies and asthma. My daughter has hardwood floor through out all the rooms in her house, but in the MBR, she has carpet over hardwood. She prefers a carpeted bedroom, not area rugs. Yes, she has cats and a son with allergies. Many decades ago, I had an allergist in St Louis who aid that unless a child is ending up in the hospital, there was no reason to get rid of carpet, draperies, upholstered furniture, stuffed animals, and family pets - the recommendation of most allergists for households where a child has allergies. He said that allergies are so complex, that just getting rid of a couple of things will not change things much. He said the only way to totally avoid allergens would be to live like "The Boy in the Bubble", and that wasn't recommended for serious emotional reasons. When we moved to LA, I started calling allergists, explaining that I had 5 cats and 2 dogs and no intention of getting rid of any of them. Finally found a terrific one who totally agreed with the St Louis allergist. When we moved to KY, I did the same - found one who agreed with them. He retired and I now have yet another allergist. He, too, agrees. Another thing I liked about all these allergists was that they were not selling ANYTHING other than their medical services! Most allergist's offices want to see you special filters, air purifiers, special bedding - you name it - they have a very expensive product just for you. This is especially true in pediatric allergist's office. Don't like that at ALL! Allergies are very complex. When I go somewhere without my dog (now only 1 dog), my asthma is no different than when I'm home sleeping with the dog. Allergies are very complex. If one is already having hardwood put down, put it down EVERYWHERE. If you prefer carpet in a bedroom, put it down over the hardwood. Do it for resale if nothing else.

We have SONO Pacific Beach throughout our entire home (over 2100 sq ft) It was installed in 2018. This is a summer home that has been used maybe 5-7 weekends a year up until last June when we moved in full time. It is only my husband and myself and an occasional visit from kids/grandkids. The entire floor is failing. The short ends of the boards are all lifting and gapping, and we have two boards with ends that have completely broken off. Inhaus is refusing to warranty this, other than providing a direct product swap (no install) or a reimbursement for the WHOLESALE price that they sold it to the distributor for. The distributor has dropped their entire line and does not carry it anymore, so Inhaus is saying they are not responsible for that portion of the warranty. Why is this in any way my problem? It is a MANUFACTURER'S defect, the distributor and installer should not have any part of this transaction. When a company warranties a product, that warranty should include removal and replacement. Looking for advice from anyone else out there who is in this position. I think there should be a full reimbursement by Inhaus... maybe a class action lawsuit is in order? Anyone else reached out for legal advice on this? I would like to add... this floor is extremely hard to keep clean. I have to wash three times (three times in a row) in order to get the mop and water to come up clean. I have never had any issues with stone/wood floors before... Just this man-made garbage. Travertine and hardwood don't offgas either... Stick with what is natural. It costs more, but it is worth it in the end, finacially and for the sake of you and your family's health.

Here's a picture of our old layout, minus the rocking chair that we had by the wall unit and the fireplace. And a picture of best layout incorporating all needs/stipulations I had to work with. The new layout has templates with existing tables that I will change as I am able. You can see how much the entry was blocked, I had 1 little picture to the right of the fireplace (sunset was in dining room) and that big honking wall unit with an analog TV and a small hand me down digital TV with a firestick on the coffee table and extension cords running from there to the fireplace wall. I think I've thought of every possible configuration of things and have gone back to the drawing board several times when I've run them by my husband. 100's of media consoles, sofas, fireplaces, floors, layouts. We use the turntable. The Ikea bottom cabinet doors slide.
