Comments (10)Thank you Sammie, I want to make it lighter so I’m leaning towards grey like the inspiration picture. the land is in pretty rough condition right now since the house has been uninhabited for nearly a year and it wasn’t taken care of even before that. This is my husband’s dream come to true since he loves landscaping....See MoreHelp me choose exterior colors for my Tudor style house!
Comments (7)I'd call it Tudor, but its probably more accurately a storybook cottage. Whatever you want to call it, what a neat house. It's adorable! I'd prefer a light stucco with dark trim. It's just what looks right to me. The green you have now reminds me a little of the green used in the brick and timber frame farmhouses in northern Germany. My grandfather told me that they painted the wood green for good luck (or maybe it was to blend in with the moss) https://farm9.static.flickr.com/8689/17227343571_5c078f319f_b.jpg...See MoreHelp! Comments (7)The overall look of your house is Tudor, but it has a lot of other elements tacked on that make it a mix of different styles. Thank the builder gods that you don't have a humongous double garage facing the front. Do not paint stone or brick or you'll be stuck with maintenance forever. Do not add shutters, which will add yet another style element to this blend of different styles. (The house below does have a double pair, though, if you're bent on them.) I'm not sure you can "update" something that doesn't have a single style. The current color actually does pull the stone and brick together. If you want the Tudor style to stand out, them do what Housson suggests picking a shade of the roof color for the timbers. Your stone entrance could use a little more drama with much larger light sconces. It's a shame the landscaping doesn't enhance the house as much as it could. A curved walkway farther out so that you could have more dramatic planting beds would have set off the house more impressively. What you have is fine but more suited to a smaller house....See MoreExterior Paint on a 1906 Tudor Revival and LOOK at my new windows...
Comments (18)What a beautiful charmer! You must be having so much fun playing dress up with this gorgeous house! I think you made a solid choice with the black windows and they look great. I'm marinating on the how we can brighten up that amazing front porch...so stay tuned for more on that. I dont think painting the stone is completely off the table. I would obviously only do the exterior siding and leave foundational stone natural like it is. I think painting might brighten it up a bit and plus I love the uneven texture that comes out once its painted. On your two windows that pop out on front and side of house, if budget permits, a copper roof might be fun?...See MoreRelated Professionals
