Need inspiration/pics please! farmhouse hutch
Comments (14)Let me be the first to burst the bubble. If you have open slat shelves up on legs, particularly in the way you show where the slat shelf is low -- how will you clean it? Got pets? Anything low in a hallway will be a dust magnet but it gets a lot worst with pet hair mixed in. What do you want to keep here? How much will be things you want to see and how much is possibly important, but not so wonderful to look at? If you keep things with a lot of use, will open cabinet doors tie up that hallway? If its as narrow as it looks, how comfortable will it be to pull out baskets? If you have something with a countertop or heavy moldings, you'll pretty much have just wall cabinets or wall cabinets plus about an inch of depth. I had clipped this as an inspiration pic two years ago. You want the space to be like the table on the left, but you actually have the depth of the construction on the right....See MoreSofa with built-in storage
Comments (3)I have seen ottomans with storage and obviously window seats. However, a sofa with storage wouldn't be particularly comfortable to sit on since it would like the normal construction such as springs. Essentially you would be sitting on a piece of foam or pillows on top of a slab of wood -- not the greatest thiing to sink into while relaxing -- if you've ever slept on a futon as compared to a good mattress and box springs, you've felt the difference. If you really think you can't live without the stuff you are planning to store, consider an ottoman or use a chest of some kind as a coffee table -- I've seen coffee tables with storage. However, at the risk of sounding like a broken record -- why do you need extra decorative pillows to stash away somewhere and clutter up your environment? How many throw blankets do you really need? I have one that I find aesthetically pleasing which is folded on the back of the sofa used to use television....See MoreNeed feedback on planned built in
Comments (9)I think it is a very interesting concept, though I'd plan it more for built-in seating with seat and back cushions (plus lots of pillows) with storage drawers below. That way the kids would have a place to store all their gear and you could also use it for all the gaming equipment, bedding and pillows. When it comes time to sleep--some could sleep on the built-in sofa with sheets and blankets or put some cushions and inflatable beds on the floors. Kids and teens seldom need a "conventional" bed to sleep on--and love to sprawl about--esp. as this will be a vacation for them. I think making the built-in as wide as a twin will be less comfy to sit on plus make the room feel more closed in. One of my best childhood memories was at my own grandma's house. She had a screened in back porch that ran the length of her house with a creek out back. She put twin beds the length of the porch and the grandkids would all sleep back there. It was heaven!...See MoreEmpty storage cupboards.. Convert to wardrobe or office?
Comments (5)do you not want to use it as a laundry anymore? Do you have a need for a study/office? I've seen plenty of "big closets converted to office spaces that you can close the doors on." This person's Pinterest board for "cloffices" has several pics. Houzz even has a page or two on it. And here's another. search on "convert a closet into an office," and you'll find a ton of ideas....See Morehatetoshop
