Chrysalis cardi?

Has anyone tried the chrysalis cardi? It's one of those multi-way garments that you supposedly wear as a cardigan, dress, scarf, etc

https://www.encircled.co/collections/our-designs/products/the-chrysalis-cardi

We are planning a summer trip to China and I'm strongly in favor of light packing. I kind of like the idea of this as a blanket for the plane, a cardigan for chilly hotels or restaurants, and just-in-case dress. I also really like that it is ethically made--I'm trying to be more conscious of where the stuff I buy comes from.

But I'm a little skeptical that this would really work well in multiple configurations

Anyone have personal experience? Thanks!

I am always so intrigued by these kinds of multiple wear garments and then I buy them and wear them one or two ways one or two times and then they sit in a drawer. I'm pretty sure it's a failure in my own creativity. But I so get the appeal and this one looks really cute.

I went to the link. It seems almost impossible that the tube of fabric can become all of those things.

Also, I don't see directions of how it turns into all the styles mentioned.

Maybe if you're young and the size of a toothpick with nary a figure flaw it would work but there's no way I'd do more than use it as a blanket or a poncho, maybe as a cardigan. Looking at those pictures makes me wonder what we're NOT seeing behind the model - is the fabric bunched up or draped in weird ways to get the front looking good?

    Exactly!

Fwiw, there are directions on the website on how to convert it to all the different styles. I can't get them to load at the moment--not sure whether that's my iPad or their website.

It comes in three sizes. Here's a couple of their pictures of a model wearing the biggest size.

And I have found a few blogger reviews with pictures:.

But it I don't particularly trust blogger photos either, much less their reviews I have looked on Reddit but didn't find a ton. So I thought I'd ask here for personal experiences.

    Thanks!

crl - can you order it and see what you think of the fabric and ease of use? I didn't check their return policy, but I might be tempted to order it if you could return if not satisfied. Even if you thought there were only 3 or 4 ways you would and could wear it, it might be great to have for travel.

Good idea to check on that. The return policy isn't great. You only have 14 days to return it and it has to be in new condition. There isn't any provision for I-washed-it-once-and-it-fell-apart. Which given the cost, doesn't thrill me. If I'm going to spend $128 plus shipping, I'd like a better return policy.

I found the How To Wear link too - it's @ the top of the page:

Intriguing indeed, tho on closer inspection, the "dress" kind of looks like she's wrapped in a bed sheet...

Eeek! The word shmata comes to mind.

Well, despite the eeek and a word I don't know, I ordered one in navy and will report back.

For ease of packing, I'm suggesting Hipknoties. Check it out. I own 3 and love them. 30 ways and counting.

Since this popped back up I’ll give a quick review on the Chrysalis cardi.

The fabric is very soft and totalky wrinkle free after a 11 day trip. I have only washed it once so I can’t comment on how it will hold up long term, but it looks like new after one wash on delicate, dry flat.

I used it as a blanket and the cocoon cardi on planes and trains. It worked well for those. It is nice that you can loop it as a scarf so I could have it out while getting on the plane while leaving my hands free for my bags.

I also used it as a dress. It was flattering and comfortable, but less than ideal as it doesn’t do very well covering bra straps. I’m not comfortable going bra free and I wouldn’t want to pack a strapless bra just for this. OTH, it did come in handy. I think it would be great as a swim suit cover up.

One downside for travel is that I don’t think it would wash in the sink well. It’s a lot of fabric (at least in the larger size I opted for) and I think it would be difficult to get dry.

I wouldn’t say it was a great buy as I think the price is a little high, but I’m not sorry I got it either and expect I will use in for future trips.
