Will I regret white grout on marble backsplash?
Comments (1)Honestly you're going to have enough trouble keeping the marble white much less the grout - seal it all!! THREE TIMES! lol Seriously though I've heard horror stories about smoke and wine stains in the kitchen. Sealer every year is about the only way to avoid stains. I've been lusting after the white marble backsplashes myself but after spending half an hour scrubbing the white grout on the marble in my shower yesterday, NO MORE! I went with whisper grey on the floors in the shower and bathroom and they show dirt far less. If I had to do it all over again I'd have gone grey all the way. Good luck!...See Moremirrored backsplash with maple cabinets?
Comments (8)I've posted about this before, but not for a while...the first thing I ripped out of my old kitchen was the mirrored backsplash (put in by the PO). As mentioned above, it showed--and magnified--every tiny spot and splatter. But here's what else it magnified: TORSOS. You see, everywhere you looked in the backsplash you saw the reflected torso of anyone in the kitchen, with no legs and no head. And without heads and legs to balance it out, the torso will look larger. Just picture you or your hubby's midsections floating around the kitchen. Or, there you are, chopping vegetables on the counter, and, right in your sightline is your own, well, you can imagine it. And, if you have children, you might see just the tops of their little heads floating around in the backsplash. Couldn't wait to get rid of it....See MoreBacksplash Regret, ideas please help!

A creamy beige or off white would look great and make the tile act as more of a subdued background while providing great contrast for your cabinets and flooring. Those beautiful surfaces should be the stars of the kitchen! I love the way the lighter SW Believable Buff walls make my walnut stained doors and floors stand out. I have this color in my kitchen now with SW Antique White trim. We're getting ready to paint the cabinets creamy white and I might go one shade lighter and use SW Antique White on the walls and BM Ivory White/Acadia White on the cabinets and trim. Hoping this will let our slate floors and soapstone counters be the stars of our kitchen :) This post was edited by juddgirl2 on Sat, Nov 22, 14 at 10:59...See MoreHow to match white backsplash to white cabinets
Comments (26)A last option, as mentioned above, if the back painted glass, other brands of white tile, or combining counter granite + painted wall, don't work out is to embrace the idea of introducing a bit of color - one that works with your other room. It can be pale enough that it isn't really a feature but still pulls the black and white together. Is your white in the cabinets a warm or a cool white? That might be the key to the problem, that you aren't finding tile of the same warmth. I do think your grey tile is pretty - the blue doesn't show on my computer, but I do know that grays often do have a hint of blue or green. I wonder if it still will look too blue once the warm tile floor is gone....See Moreratguy
