I don't think it's that the OP has never seen chrome fixtures, but on this forum we see so many other choices that chrome seems to have gone by the wayside. I'm back and forth between ORB and chrome, too. I love the richness, warmth, and the fact that it looks old of the ORB. I love the price and timelessness (is that a word?) of chrome. It's nice to see chrome used in bathrooms like annkathryn's and dmlove's and it shows it is possible to have a very rich and warm looking room and still not break the bank on fixtures. It's also nice to see the neutral chrome mixed with other metals. I'd actually like to see more photos of bathrooms that use mixed metals.

A quick search on Houzz will show lots of pictures with mixed finishes. The first two below have ORB light fixtures and chrome/brushed nickel plumbing fixtures and cabinet hardware. The last picture has chrome plumbing fixtures and ORB light fixtures and cabinet hardware. IMO all these combinations look good. I am typically a "matchy/matchy" person but wanted chrome plumbing fixtures in my house and prefer ORB light fixtures to chrome light fixtures for some reason. So I have spent hours looking at pictures with mixed finishes and reading design blogs/home building forums and have come to the conclusion that there are no "rules" on this and it is really a matter of personal taste.

Can you use a chrome faucet with satin brass cabinet pulls? Yes : ) . But then I have brushed nickel faucets with polished brass Armac Martin cup pulls and towel bars. And dark bronze that reads black on milk glass pendants. I don't get agitated about matching finishes, preferring a collected-over-time look, but the brushed nickel certainly ties in with the stainless appliances. My cabinets are Ikea Edserum. I fell in love with the same pulls about 20 years ago and had them in our previous kitchen too, with a chrome faucet, and it all looked great. The cabinets there are cream painted wood.

I might change the laundry to SS since you have the sink which is an easier upkeep/ better, btw. The rest ( ORB) in baths, and all door hardware etc , including stainless in kitchen (also the easier upkeep..) fine ! as long as the ORB makes sense with the style of home you have going. Styles count as much as finishes. We don't really know your general flavor : ) right? Be that traditional, transitional, modern, rustic, modern farm....contemporary or anything in between.
