Danby Marble has pink stains on it

Hi all

We installed Imperial Danby Marble in our kitchen after much talk and research and I love it. We haven’t actually moved in, but we come by the house often. Today I noticed these pink streaks on my island and in a couple of places around the island and I’m trying to figure out where they came from and how to eventually get rid of them. Only the carpenter was here this morning and i saw him leaning over the island a few times but I don’t think thats how they got pink!

Bizarrely , it’s not even stressing me out. My Danby seems to be fairly dense and not even water is leaving etching at this point so I’m stumped.

We have quite a lot of countertop space all around the island and none of them have the same pink stains btw.

Thoughts?

I actually haven’t tried it, yet. I realized I didn’t really care as they were hardly visible.

I started having doubts about my choice right before it was installed. I was thinking of what everyone kept saying about it being fragile, blah blah and i wondered if I should have gotten granite instead. But I absolutely love my marble so much now that it’s installed and I’ve lived with it for several months!

I am careful with my marble but not excessively. I splash water everywhere when I’m washing a dish but just wipe it off when I’m finished, for example.

I also don’t put hot stuff directly on the counter - I place them on a wood block I have on my counter.

When cooking on my induction, I place a tea towel next to the induction and then I can place my plates or whatever on top of that.

i bought one of these acrylic counter protections on Amazon and put it over the dishwasher so that I wouldn’t worry about chipping the marble and I can also actually place dishes up there when loading or unloading. Best purchase ever.

Nothing has stained or etched my marble yet, except for a tiny dot of orange juice that I didn’t catch until and hour or so later. It’s hardly visible and i actually think it’s fading. Sometimes my coffee machine splatters coffee and I just wipe it off- no problem.To resume: I love my counters and would do it again. Anything I do now to protect them feels normal and not at all bothersome.
