Another plan-need help. Ikea Kitchen
Comments (17)From what I understand, there is no recycle collection so I am not sure how we will handle trash. We are so used to recycling in our primary home. So they could get tossed together, but may not hurt to have a recycle bin in case they change eventually (or if we find some recycle containers somewhere ourselves). The trash will go out the back sliders. That is a good point on the island.. we were thinking of a longer island, somewhere around 80"+ to have comfortable seating for 3 and then possibly a smaller stool around the side for overflow seating (more likely a kid if we are at the dining table) and maybe even squeeze in a 2nd smaller stool as needed) . We were just discussing if we would want the larger ikea slab (97x25.6) and cut the length to ~80" but run them side by side to have a wider island-but that seems awfully big. We will have to test out the various overhangs to see what is comfortable. I imagine it would be the kids there alot or the ladies sipping a nice drink while I prep/cook. Not sure how we would use the rest of the space if the cabinets ran 24" deep in the island. Then we are left with 24+" of overhang behind it. Overkill? I will check out the ikea fans web as well! thanks-peeked at it , but seems beyond what I can absorb right now! They are very clever with all their tricks! Not sure I understand it all....See More100"x125" U-shaped Ikea kitchen needs layout help
Comments (17)Alrighty, here's design #3. You're not wrong about the budget, Carolina Kitchen ;) The running total is at $4,160 right now, but including a pantry cabinet would push it higher. We're cutting quite a bit of costs by doing a builder grade maple butcher block countertop and cheap $2-3 / sq ft ceramic tile for the walls and floor. It's still tight though. For that reason alone I'll probably have to ditch the pantry. I agree that it looks like valuable storage in your kitchen though, Janie! Wine cabinet is gone, I agree. The trash pull out in that pic is spot on - that's the exact model I was looking at (Rev-a-Shelf, correct?) and I was thinking we could add it later if we don't have the cash now. We compost and recycle most of our waste, and barely fill our trash once a week currently. I do think the drawers would have to just be junk drawers and office supplies. I replaced the two drawers with one large one, maybe that will be more useful? It could hold trash bags, big packs of batteries, etc. That's too funny that the farmhouse sink might be pretentious. I will graciously accept that opinion and probably do it anyway. I just like how they work! I love sinks that are full counter depth and don't leave a strip of counter in the back or front to get soaked with water. It also makes the most sense for us with butcher block countertops to have the sink that is least likely to get the counter wet. In this new design, it's moved 8.25" away from the corner which is as far as we can get with the current plumbing. Not sure what to do with those 8.25" though. The bottom of the range hood is 32" above the cooktop. Is that too high? My husband is 6' 2" and always complains about ours now which is 29" above....See MoreDelima with small u-shaped Ikea kitchen with corner cabinets
Comments (17)I have a similar issue with a corner cabinet. I have space for 44" but have an IKEA corner cabinet in a 47" that came with the house (we bought in October). The kitchen was in process of being remodeled and the kitchen was still in boxes. This is the only area we are having an issue with. If we use the 47" completely, it will offset my sink and window. Can't move those items. Would we be able to cut 3" off of the backside of the 47" cabinet and be ok? The door will have to be custom-made, I understand. It still leaves plenty of space in which to get into the cabinet. We also know we'd have to modify the large shelf that goes with it (again, 3" off of the back). My kitchen is slightly larger than the image above. Sink in same place and a 12" cabinet to the right that butts up against our refrigerator. This is our only problem child. The previous owners didn't leave us with anything other than the floorplan of what they were going to do. We're novices...at best. lol We currently have no cabinets in, the floors had to be completely redone and look amazing now. We had to put in some new outlets and redo the drywall. We're at the cabinet stage of our kitchen redo....See MoreNeed help with IKEA base corner cabinet dimensions please!
