Comments (6)I also suggest one color for walls and ceilings. You can leave the beam as is. The room will feel cozier (not smaller). For paint, a beige or cream. Gray would need a brown undertones. Here is a good article with color suggestions and photos. Paint can be hard, and needs to be seen in your space/light. I always like to get some of the sample boards at SW to paint and see during the day/night. Don't paint directly on walls so you can move around (and color bleeds through). Both BM and SW have "crap paint" (smaller cans, inexpensive paint - you would never use on walls) to buy for exploring....See MorePainting honey oak trim
Comments (0)We are planning to paint honey oak trim, windows, doors, cabinets, and builtins white. Does anyone have any advice or experience on best way/materials to do this? We have 3 small children and a dog- we want to make it as durable as possible (so we can wipe it down easily and avoid chipping). Some people recommend sanding, while others do not. Any experience is highly welcomed!...See MorePainting honey oak trim
Comments (6)My main part of the project was removing the paneling. It dated the house and made the room darker and smaller feeling. The wood is in good shape, yes, but I think it’s the color that is also dating it. Thanks for your advice. Maybe I’ll start with cabinet and ledge, and then go from there on each remaining piece. I’m not good at deciding on things before they are done....See MoreBeth H. :
