If you were a Buddleia, what would you like planted at your feet?
Comments (12)I have lots of tall bearded iris planted on one side, the similar foliage colors with different foliage textures is nice, and the iris distract from the after-the-winter-pruned look of the Buddleia. I have some trumpet lilies behind it, which grow up tall and bloom before the Buddliea has gotten tall enough to obscure them, then the shrub helps hide the yellowing lily foliage later in the summer. - Steve...See MoreKitchen island questions...would like your input
Comments (18)LL, I am thinking of two spots, on either side of the kitchen sink. That plate rack spot could be turned to FACE the sink at either end of the cabinet run. I'm not sure if there will be TWO such racks. Perhaps an open long upper shelf for serving dishes can go on the range side of the kitchen. I think of my new kitchen as being a galley style, with a few wiggles to it. And a little more width between the two sides, so I can keep my skinny rolling island and move it around as I please. Two of the wheels lock, so it will be steady. The only other island I've had was a butcher block microwave cart on wheels too. I kept it in the center of the U-shaped kitchen at MoccasinLanding, with a small potrack above it--a pot rack that was attached to a boat pulley and tied off to the wall with a boat cleat, so I could raise and lower it as need-be....See MoreWould you like to share your pendants and lighting?
Comments (3)Hi, Have you got pics of your bar stools? (Still haven't picked mine, we're making do with 2 freebies- so poor DS has to stand until we get table and chairs set up :>) I am 'matching' these elements, ORB chandelier, pendants, bullet lights, and cabinet hardware. Don't have pics yet as handles aren't on (hopefully soon). My sink and faucet and soap dispenser are SS as are all the appliances on the counter level. I am assuming I will get ORB bar stools, if not all wood. I did some 'decorating' yesterday, and have some brushed gold oil/tea light burners, and I'm surprised that they look good, but then again, now that I think about it, I have them next to a ORB urn rimmed in brass, so I guess that tied them together. I'm not a decorator, but I think matching is safe, mixing can add variety and texture and layering, it just requires a little more finesse. So, to answer your question, I don't think matching your bar stools to your cabinet hardware is 'too matchy'....See MoreWould You Like to Share Your Colorful Rooms?
Comments (61)OMG, the deep purple in Annie's library is gorgeous and perfect. And I've always loved her tangerine powder room and the orange in her kitchen. Brave use of two tough colors which turned out perfectly. this is the children's bunk room in my house, but I want to paint the woodwork white and the walls and ceiling BM Lemon Ice, a "lighter" (weight-wise) yello My favorite room in terms of color is my living room...See Moresushipup1
