Luxury Vinyl Planks - What does "Waterproof" mean?
Comments (3)I stopped by a Carpet One store this weekend and was looking at the LVT. The store person had a peice of CoreTec, which their chain seems to push over other brands, that they claimed had been sitting in a fishbowl for over a year. Half of the peice was out of water, and half was submersed. I pulled it out and looked at it, and you could tell both ends have been submerged, as the water staining was pretty heavy. Mold could potentially form under the product if it was not pulled up, but other than tile, or sheet vinyl, I don't think you are going to find a better product. Does your basement flood regularly? If so I would address that issue first. I am looking at LVT for our beach house, so when people come in and leave wet trunks on the floor etc it does not damage the floor....See MoreLuxury vinyl planks over tile good idea?
Comments (5)I prefer to see the tile removed. The more flexible (aka "thin") vinyl products (less than 8mm thick) have a tendency to telegraph subfloor abnormalities. You can float anything you want over top the tile...just be prepared to have MAJOR disappointment in the visual look OR move to a very thick, rigid, high-end vinyl product to get this to work. As I've always said (as my previous incarnation as Cancork), it is always better to remove old tile. Start fresh = a fresh start....See MoreHome Depot luxury vinyl planks -- I tested the tiles
Comments (19)Salonva, we have Coretec for a year now in our Florida home. You clean it with water and vinegar. For the most part I spray with just water. We have a dog. No scratches from him, pulling chairs on, dropping something hard etc. It never looks dirty because of the grading, knots etc. I think I look at things a bit differently. Does mine look the same as hard wood that I have up north? No. But it looks nice! Yes there are some fake looking products, but I don’t believe Coretec falls into that category. We chose a beachy/ driftwood look. We were lucky to see this is someone’s home. We were going in a whole other direction! In the kitchen....See MoreEngineered Vinyl Plank (EVP) vs. Luxury Vinyl Plank vs Engineered Hard
Comments (24)@V M sorry, just seeing your post above. We are just now finally breaking ground on our home so I don't have pics of the flooring to show you from my house. I will come back and post when I do but that will be some months from now. But we are paying, I think, 15K for our Multi-Length Rigid Core SPC floors in color Sandhill. Our house will be 2975 sf and this floor covering will be throughout the home, except in 3 of the full baths and the utility room. I'm not exactly sure how many square feet that leaves but hopefully you can do some rough math. Everything goes through my builder so I don't have an exact price per square foot to provide you. I also am not sure if this includes labor to install....See MoreJ Lloyd
