Hi everybody. my name is Ronnie. I need help adding color to my room.
Comments (14)Do not add purple to that room. That would not make any sense. You already have your color palette established. Adding random colors should not be the goal. What you need to do is stick with the palette you already have. Color is not your problem. You need LAYERS. You need to build up that space so it's not so flat and one dimensional. You need an area rug. You need to upgrade the throw pillows. You're trying too hard to match the pillows to that piece of art work. Yes, keep the colors in the same family, but focus more on texture and then add pattern. All solid color pillows are too boring and flat. Then you need to pull that sectional away from the corner. Do not stick furniture in corners, that will never look good. Pull it into the center of the room and reconfigure it so that it is looking at whatever the focal wall is in the space. Without being able to see the entire space, maybe turn the couch so that it is looking at that blank wall that the long part of the couch is backed up onto now for example. in other words, get the couch into the center of the space on a large area rug however that fits best. Then get a console table to put behind the long part of the sectional with a large piece of modern sculpture art on it to go with your modern wall art....See MoreHelp! I have no idea what colors go with my couch and style!!
Comments (4)I love the black and white rugs in the first two pictures above but am a little doubtful about a shag rug in those colors. You lose the impact of the two next to each other with longer rug fibers and then they're also not easy to keep clean. Google "eclectic living rooms" and you'll see a huge selection that should inspire you to take that next step in your living room....See Morehelp!!! I need to choose a colour to go in my living-room /dining-room
Comments (25)Sounds like a fireplace re-do might be a longer-term fix. In the meantime, I'd paint the mantle a dark brown, a similar colour to your end tables. It's not trim and shouldn't be white. It pops out too much in the white colour. Another idea that doesn't involve any ripping-out is to go right over the existing mantle using a mantle slipcover in wood. Here's one of many how-to's on the internet. If you stained your brick as well, you could have a whole new look. https://www.fwmadebycarli.com/2011/01/making-of-slip-covered-mantel.html...See MoreWhat color would you paint this room? (I have no idea, help!)
Comments (29)It's a guest room, right? What type of feeling do you want in the room? Low contrast usually evokes calm while contrast can be more energizing. This article talks about contrast in rooms. It's not about a colour being "wise" necessarily; it's about how you want the room to look and feel. There's more than one way to create a great looking room. Are the furnishings all set up in the space? How does everything look and feel? If you're having difficulty picturing a different colour on the wall, try tapping up a white sheet behind the nightstand to see how a light wall colour would fare. A neutral off-white might offer the most flexibility should you wish to change the bedding later on....See Morepaddywex
