More help needed with rug and occasional tables

Posting again about my living room. I'm really trying to finish it. I now have a brown leather sofa and a beige slipcovered chair and ottoman. I need a new rug to pull the brown/blue/beige color scheme together. What do you think about this rug, PB Adeline?

I also need help finding a sofa table and at least a coffee table, maybe an end table too. I'm not sure if I should look for a matching set or what. For the sofa table I'm not wanting to do stained wood and I'd also like to get away from overly distressed pieces. Was thinking maybe metal, a brushed silver finish. Not sure if it will work with the new satin nickel lamp I just bought though

Or there's this, but it's distressed. Pier one does have a variety of matching occasional tables though.

Overall I'm going for a casual, English cottage look, with a mostly neutral + blue color scheme

Here are pictures of the new furniture in place. I'm not sure how helpful they are because the existing coffee table, sofa table, rug, red tv console, electric stove and blue curtain are all going.

You didn't pick up the PB rug you showed earlier? I looked at that rug that you're showing above when I was looking for other options for you, and thought it might be too dark. I prefer the one I showed you earlier, which they have only in 8 x 10, the Freda. It's a bit more subtle, and with more colors, you wouldn't be limited in the future if you want to add touches of color.

Yeah, I wanted to get other rug (PB Nolan) but the seller never got back to me and I only had the rental truck yesterday. I could still order it new from PB. I did decide to get the extorp armchair in the dark beige color and now I'm not sure how it would look with the Nolan rug since it has a lot more beige going on in it

I do like the rug you posted, do you think it would work with the blue? The plates I have hanging have that bright-ish, almost cobalt blue going on so I was hoping to work that in with various shades of blue.

So lots of thoughts and good ideas from everyone. Let me explain the space a little more. This room is actually my bedroom. It is a 1920's home and no bedroom is very large, but with 5 of them, a new owner could easily merge two rooms to create a wonderful master suite. As much as I love the clean lines of sisal, I'm having a hard time reconciling the fact that it will feel dreadful on barefeet. All those knobby areas! But I'm not saying a definite no, as I like the lines. A lot. Graywings, I am a former realtor and I generally agree about dark colors and small rooms, but I think I can get away with leaving this one as long as the rest of the room feels visually lighter. I did take down the four poster bed frame and the duvet I'll be using is very airy feeling. Plus, I don't want to spend more money on painting. Here are another picture of my room to help with scale. The second window is on the wall next to the bed. Also, thoughts on painting the dresser? Definitely a light rug with texture would work. Because of the metal pieces, I would suggest lamps that are organic like beautiful pottery in gourd shapes to soften the look of the room which I think is delightful but you asked for opinions to make a change. The end tables are nice but I think a table that is a tad bit lighter in wood tone and maybe a bit more bulk would look better with the larger lamps.

Might I suggest solid drapery, and I agree with the others, go HIGH! But add some trimming to the drapery. It creates a delicious custom look. And it's a timeless. While patterns come and go...trends fade away, this classic look will stand the test of time.

Put your centerpiece on the chess table. Is the other ornate dining set for breakfast, gaming or could it be used here? Do you want to continue with the cow head/skin theme, leaning SW in your decor? They aren't really "cozy and elegant," IMO. Is a new chandy in the picture? That one misses the mark on elegance. You need a minimum of 36-42" from the table top to any baseboards or furniture surrounding the table to allow for chair sit/scoot space. I'd do that measurement first. I really wouldn't want the rug jammed up against the exterior wall. Maybe the smaller, round table would be a better choice for using a rug here.

I absolutely would use it with blue as it has plenty of blue in it, but the other colors which give you many more options for accessories, and also go better (IMO) with your leather sofa.

I agree, that first rug is far too dark. It has a pretty pattern but the shade is so dark it's depressing. I hope you'll consider a metal and glass coffee table to make the room look larger and to show off the rug. It can have a bottom shelf for books, magazines, the TV remote etc.
