Maybe having the nightstands also built of the same wood would be too much, but we usually make painted shelves (any color) with wooden drawer front, so in my opinion, that way the interior would have a lighter look - for example, having the shelves the same color as your wall and having the drawer fronts the same color as your bedframe or floor. I already purchased two of these etagere for either side of the dresser in the master bedroom. I'm now trying to find a dresser (60"-75" W) that will bring this look together. I really like this modern look (silver leaf) with a bit of glam however, I need to be sure they work well together. Please let me know if you like this dresser with these etageres or if you can recommend a better option? I also need new nightstands about 38" W (max), if you can think of something that will work with this look. I'm tired of small nightstands and would like a larger size from 30-38"W. I ended up not getting the upholstered headboard as both the color and condition were not the same as the pictures when I went to see it in person. This weekend however I found a few more pieces from a family that was downsizing, but now I have quite a bit of mahogany. Sorry, I'm just realizing how blurry the picture of the chest is but it's solid mahogany again with a serpentine front. I have 2 bedrooms on the 1st floor I'm wanting to redo so I could split up the furniture as both rooms are about the same size (roughly 12' X 12' with 9' ceiling) with original 1930 wood floors. So I'm thinking it would be good to split up the furniture, and add some rugs and lighter colors to break up the mahogany? I did order this ivory velvet quilt and shams so far for the bed. For paint colors, I was thinking of a pale blue for one bedroom and maybe a green-gray for the other?

This chart might help you get your new bedside tables and lamps the right height. Can you budget to have the armoire and dresser professionally spray painted? They look useful and a good size for the room. If your dresser will stay below the windows, look into some fiber shades, inside mounted. I wouldn't do any accent wall. Just find a nice trio of pictures to hang above the bed.
