Comments (7)Thanks Ken, Utah State University is the "creator" and it's because of the known "availability issues", I made the request here, hoping that someone may be an "insider". I know, size matters in the US - and in Asia we tend to think that the best bites often come in smaller bits. Rhetoric aside, my interest here isn't the "spacecraft suitability" but the fact that these grow without any support, notably in NFT or DWC. Now you know it all LOL In case discretion matters, anyone (ecxept spamers) can always mail me at the known email address; chiliparadise@gmail.com...See MoreInput on these black/purple tomato varieties?
Comments (2)Of that group, I've only grown Rosella and it was only okay. I grew it in the ground one year and in a container the next year, and it struggled in our heat and didn't produce many fruit. The ones it produced weren't bad, but they weren't anything special. The fruit were smaller in size than I expected, but it was a very hot, very dry year. I had high hopes for it and for other varieties from the Dwarf Project, but none of the ones I tried were really, um, good enough to knock any old favorites off our grow list. Your results could be entirely different because flavor is very subjective and each person's taste buds perceive flavor differently. Growing conditions vary so wildly here from one year to the next that I do try to give a new-to-us variety 2 or 3 years before I decide if it is worth keeping or not. In the third year I grew Rosella, it died abruptly before producing a fruit....and that probably was the last time I'll plant it. If a variety can't wow me in 1 out of 3 years, I'm moving on to try something else. And, I like the whole idea behind the Dwarf Project and I wanted to love the varieties I tried, but I couldn't....See MoreMicro Tom Tomato, Possible Growing Issue.
Comments (4)Ok. How did you come to that answer? They are controlled sizes of fertilizer tablets. So how is it to much fertilzer? are you basing this on the fact that the plant is smaller than the usual cherry tomato plants that grow in the garden? Should I skip next weeks feeding? Drain the water in the water basin and add half as fertilizer? So far it has sprouted the seeds, grown them fast like its suppose to. Thus the reason it is a great garden. But they just happen to be yellowish with green veins now. Since you cant grow tomatos in south Fla in the summer outside. This is the only way to grow tomatos. I know these are a curiosity, but I wanted to grow them. The cherry tomato that usually grows in the garden, is about twice the size and half the amount of fruit, but bigger. So...any hints on how you came to that answer? Thanks...See Moremiscel
