I am looking at my SW fan deck. Suggestions : Snowbound, Heron Plume, Shoji White

SW has the formulas for BM paint colors (and vice-versa) and can make BM color samples/paints for you in SW paint

I should probably ask if a cool tone white is what I should go for. A few pictures should help?

It so much depends on the light in your rooms. One of my favorite colors is SW Creamy, which definitely has some slightly yellow undertones. It works beautifully in my rooms with lots of blues and grays and warmer wood floors.

I cross posted in Paint, after realizing my assumption of off-white gray undertone may be wrong. Its going to be challenging, because these pictures show it flooded with eastern morning light, but I have multiple windows on the west side as well. I know I'll need sample painting in multiple places, but need help narrowing it down where to start

For what it’s worth, I live in one of the most overcast cloudy towns in the nation, so we went with loads of tunable LED cans, and of course that changes things a lot.

Thanks Porter, to answer your questions, all the wood stained trim is staying- this is a 1970s contemporary house with lots of stained wood throughout. It’s really more of a true medium brown but is looking more red in photos than real life. We brought in about every shade of stained cabinet and this one just fit, I believe because others had red, orange or yellow undertones- this is just medium brown with a licorice (black) glaze. My granite is Volga Blue and that’s especially hard to photograph- it mostly reads black with silver accents.

Thats my challenge, to find a white that works with - black brown gray and blue. Yes it’s a mix of warm and cool tones but they play well together. I think the white should have a palest gray undertone, the goal being it just fades into the background and not draw attention to itself. But I’m doubting myself, there’s definitely decision fatigue after a multi room renovation! All I’m confident of so far is that I’m really not liking the yellow/beige cast I’m seeing with Muslin.

I will have to do many samples in different places, we have both east and west sun exposure. But was hoping for a little help to narrow down the undertones to look for or avoid.

I'd buy some 4 poster boards from Michael's or where ever you have locally cut them in half so you have 8 pieces to sample 2 colors. Leave a 2" border of white all the way around and paint the rest with any of the colors you choose or any I have mentioned. I'd go for City Loft or Aesthetic White. Shoji is another that will lean slightly gray, but I didn't sample it as I'm familiar with it in other spaces and for my space and furnishings in the eat in sunroom I knew it would not work. It really is a lot of work, but to get it right.... You have some interesting colors and the only way to know is to try even though it's a pain.

I'm not done, but here is a photo of Aesthetic white in my sunroom. TALK ABOUT DREARY and you can see high it leans a bit slight gray. I cropped the photo as this is the only spot I have 2 coats to have you best see. The room has three taller windows left and right with a paned single door to the backyard and on the back wall 4 large paned windows so there is a lot of light in this space. As you move in to the kitchen it's not as bright, but the light from the sunroom toward the kitchen makes the paint look a pinch lighter more like the bottom of the photo. I hope it helps you and as I mentioned paint can change from room to room. I found it a nice compromise I was very torn between Egret and City Loft and Aesthetic White all having slight nuances that differ, yet barely. I had used Aesthetic in an office I did recently and loved it so I tried in in my home and well.... I do love it and will use it more in the future.

You can certainly google and read on each of the above colors that people chose and why. Take in to consideration one person might say, "it leaned a bit......." yet it might be the space they live in. Looking at photos of swatches or even store swatches for that matter is not 100% accurate so these are my thoughts on colors. You might also research Shoji and what people said about it as it's a nice white that leans gray. I still need to do one more coat :( I found Aesthetic White to be the lightest that still had subtle contrast with my trim and leaned subtle gray in a lot of areas yet looked nice overall. Sitting here I have three swatches from SW: Egret White, City Loft and Aesthetic White. They all look almost identical on the little cards, but are really very different so don't let the swatches fool you.

I agree Muslin is a bit yellow or even slightly golden in some spaces, albeit pretty for some spaces!

Thank you, it is helpful to see a real room, and it definitely works in your space. It seems to have that fade into the background/not call attention to itself quality I am looking for. Your suggestions had never come across my radar during my searching, so I will definitely check them out.

Which is maybe why I was questioning adding more gray to the mix, but it seems the most likely to play well with the other tones I have. Off to my local Sherwin Williams tomorrow with everyone's suggestions, thank you all.
