jenn air refrigerator next to electrolux double oven

I'm selecting appliances for a kitchen remodel. Refrigerator and double electric oven will be right next to each other. I'm considering the Jenn-air 72 inch counter depth refrigerator, and an Electrolux double electric wall oven, 30 inch. The Jenn-air has a choice of two handles. I would like these appliances to look good together in my small kitchen. Will this be a problem? Which handle on the Jenn-air would look best with Electrolux?

Make sure you pay attention to your door swing relative to your ovens. The handle choice on both the fridge and ovens may mean the difference between bumping and denting and not. Your JA fridge should also come with a door swing restrictor (not sure exactly what its called). My JA 36" FD CD came with them - little bracket that hex screws under the door to restrict the max swing arc. Sounds like you may need that if your oven is right next to the fridge - I did.

Sorry, I don't have any knowledge of the specific products you're looking at. I just want to share my philosophy on appliances: you choose the best appliance you can afford for the job you need it to do. Matching is a nice bonus. So for me it would not be a problem one little bit if the handles don't match as long as the appliances perform to the standard I expect based on the amount I paid. Then again I cook a lot so function is the only consideration for me.

If you want to post pictures, I'll gladly give you my un-expert opinion on which handle to choose :)

I would recommend the electrolux over the jennair hands down. Your salesman couldn't possible know that as the line hasn't existed more than a year so unless he is gifted with the ability to see the future then I would doubt it. We have sold plenty of electrolux items with no complaint whatsover. Also remember the Jenn air is a discontinued production series and will be replaced by a whirlpool designed variant in the next year or so. What you would be buying is a top line maytag/amana built piece that is going to be phased out because they were bought up by whirlpool and they are consolidating production lines. Either wait for the new one or get the electrolux.

We recently bought a house with an older Amana downdraft gas range. After cooking on electric coil then electric glass top for the last 11 years I was excited to have gas... until I cooked on it. For an old piece of junk range, the downdraft was remarkably strong. Therein was the problem: the downdraft sucks the flames inward so cooking was horribly uneven. I really wanted to go induction but there wasn't room to do an induction range plus pop up downdraft and the cost of relocating an oven to a wall and doing an induction cooktop and pop up vent was cost prohibitive, so instead we bought a new gas range and are installing (in the coming weeks!) an overhead island vent, since our range is on a peninsula. Sorry this got so long, but I have strong feelings about the darn gas downdraft after being stuck with it for the last 6 months. Funny PS - we got our new range Thursday, ahead of doing our countertops early next month. It can't be installed right away due to an issue with the location of the gas outlet thingy and also the existing counters are in the way by about 1/4 inch. I'm happy cooking with a two burner hot plate, a toaster oven and a 12 year old convection oven combo microwave. That's how much I loathe the gas downdraft.

We just bought the Electrolux double oven and I am impressed with how well-built the thing is. It's replacing the oven that was in our 7-year-old Jenn-Air range. I have no complaints about the Jenn-Air, though...just upgrading from a single oven. My only concern is that, with an appliance like the new Jenn-Air, you don't have a track record on repair frequency or performance.

Pictures of your choices would help. But seriously, if they are both stainless steel, I don't think they will look mis-matched. Our dishwasher, range, and refrigerator are three different brands, although none are adjacent to another.

Thanks, everyone, for your comments. I'd post pictures, but I'm having trouble finding a showroom with the Jenn-Air refrigerator on display. The model is JFC2290 with the Euro handles (REM), or the Pro handles (REP). Either handle would be fine. The ovens I'm considering are the Electrolux EI30EW45PS or the Electrolux Icon E30EW85PPS. I don't need an exact match, just handles that don't look too mismatched! I was hoping someone with the same issue had found a solution :)

lindsey - I know many on the appliance forum share your views about finding the best in each category, but my kitchen is fairly small, so I'd like appliances located right next to each other to have at least some visual similarities. My current oven is a Frigidaire Gallery, and it is horrible for baking! My old GE Profile did a much better job at baking.

Good suggestion, steve2005. I didn't know about the door restrictors. We made the panels around the oven 1 1/4 inch wide to give as much room as possible between oven and refrigerator, but our space didn't allow anything wider than that.
