Brass Fireplace Screen
Comments (7)I wouldn't say there are a bunch, at least not in my area, and I have been looking for one for my son. I bought one about ten years ago and it was $10. Here's one posted on shopgoodwill. Even with shipping($16.23 for where i'm at)that would still be reasonable. Here is a link that might be useful: fireplace screen...See MoreFireplace Screen Pick - Fit with house or too much?
Comments (14)We already gave the other one away - or rather the trash guys eventually picked it up after no one wanted it on the curb ;) BTW, the fireplace is in the front room which also happens to be our only dining spot in our home so we eat in here all the time. We don't have a formal living or dining space. While I have more formal decor (think lots of ball and claw and some Baker furniture), I think the (lovely) screen pictured above might be too fancy (though would be great if it was for a fireplace in either a formal dining or living area)! And unfortunately, my budget is more along the $150 range. The RH one (WAY out of my budget) is completely screened in which I'm not sure I like since our fireplace opening is only as large as the doors on the Sears model (ending in "7". I found that same one on another website (same model number) and it said "Door measures 32.5" Wide x 26" High" Again, the opening on my fireplace is 42 1/4" wide by 25" wide so the doors on this one would be slightly larger than the entire opening of mine. And sujar, I looked at the glass ones you mentioned on HD's website but they are also too big though I like one of them in particular (but didn't come in black either...). I think I need to find a local shop and look around in person to see them in person!...See Morefireplace screen
Comments (3)Yes I think it is. I'm feeling a bit "stoopid" because I saw that picture before but it looked like glass and now I read the name and it says fireplace SCREEN. Duh! Thank you for your help!!!...See MoreBrass, fan-style vintage fireplace screens
Comments (23)LynnNM -- great photos, thank you! I love seeing the screens in context and they look great :-) I pinkmountain -- I will have to keep that in mind! Part of the problem is that many things we did in the first couple years were the result of poor (or none) planning. If something is functional then, to him, it's fine. I love that he is very practical, but it came with a lack of caring for aesthetics. dyhgarden -- I've been thinking a LOT about that link you posted sharing ideas for unused fireplaces. Given that we aren't supposed to burn often in CA (and our fireplace really doesn't do a good job of warming the house anyway), I think re-purposing it is a very functional and practical way to go. Since we're re-doing the room in a year (or two?) maybe DH will be open to an alternative use for the space. crl_ -- That's a lovely inspiration photo! I'm going to have to start collecting inspiration pics as well; as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. It will be a lot easier to explain to DH if I can just show pics!...See MoreRelated Professionals
