Sconces - height from floor
Comments (9)In my oh-so-crude mock-up, the center of the backplate is at what I guess to be 60" from the floor. The total height of the sconce is what I think would be 24" but it looks a little larger to me. I measured the lamp. From the tabletop to the middle of the shade is 24". I have attached another photograph with a large white diamond about the height and location of ONE of the sconces. (The SnapShop app isn't hard, but it can be a little finicky. I didn't think I could make the sconces small enough to have a useful photo). I think the sconce will actually go from the middle of the lower picture to the middle of the upper one. I estimate the light bulb in the sconce will be about where the top of the lamp shade is in this picture. The lamp will not be there, but the chest and the etchings will be. So, what do y'all think now? Too low? High enough? Too high? This is the foyer of my old house and shows a 12' ceiling....See Morehelp choosing kitchen sconce

I am biased as I have a mostly white kitchen with a black floor - though not nearly as sweet as yours is. I was going to go with a colorful back splash (a change is due - and the rooms to either side of it have lots of color) but seeing all your white tempts me to stick with a white....See MoreHelp choosing bath sconce

Comments (2)I agree with RL that the power to those sconces could be routed into the ceiling for more recessed lighting in the living space adjacent to the kitchen. In all honesty, the sconces (and any that you might replace them with) really do a disservice to the room. They create a focal point - the intersection of the wall and ceiling. That’s nothing you need to look at twice! They really don’t appear to add much to the ambient lighting in the room, they just highlight a really peculiar feature of the room....See Moredecoenthusiaste
