Orange Brick House Dilemma

My husband and I bought our first house last May and although I didn't /love/ the weird orangey brick there were so many other features that we did love. Since day one I've been trying to envision how we could update the colors/design without painting the brick (in my fantasy world I would paint the brick, but who doesn't love a no/low maintenance exterior?!).

We plan on hitting the exterior renovations hard this Spring (yay!). I've included a before, current, and (rough and NOT set in stone) photoshopped version of our house. Clearly there's a lot of updating that needs to happen; tuck pointing the stone wall definitely being one of our top priorities. House was built in 1942 and we would like to keep some of the charm of that era, but update what is tired. I am desperate for some advice!!! What do you guys think about trim color, front vinyl area under the eave, front porch design, etc... Thanks in advance for your thoughts!!
