Look on the bright side. I remodeled my home while I was pregnant with twins (Mistake No. 1). In the remodel, I replaced all carpet with lovely white berber (Mistake No. 2 - what was I thinking - and why didn't someone stop me)? Assuming the twins would always be infants, I did Mickey Mouse babies wallpaper (Mickey Mouse in diapers). (Mistake No. 3) I had built-in shoe racks for the babies for shoes that would fit no larger than a a one-year old (maybe two) (Mistake No. 4) I could go on and on - I didn't have a clue. But after several rounds of in vitro trying to get pregnant, nobody had the heart to reel me in. But I digress. After the twins were born, I would frequently put down a pallet on the floor with plastic underneath and let them lay on the pallet without a diaper to "air out". One of them rolled off the pallet and pooped in the floor. Being a new parent, it didn't matter, I smiled, and said "isn't that cute" and I scrubbed and scrubbed, but it would come out. Oh, well, we laughted, in a few years, we'll look at that spot and laugh about where he pooped in the floor as a baby. Well, the laugh was on me. Within a few months, that carpet was so nasty, it looked like the whole town had come by to poop on the carpet. I bought a steamer and cleaned that carpet about once a month, and it still looked like crap. No pun intended. Then, when one of the boys had his tonsils out at three, he threw up blood clots on the floor - BTW Oxclean did wonders with that. When we sold the house, the new buyers were pulling up the carpet before we were even out of the driveway. Anyway, I have brown carpet in my new house, maybe too dark, but I'm over it already. Just in case.

A lighter color would look nice. I would try to match the stone work in front, or at least doesn't clash with it..Color??I went with a beige, isn't everybody. One color I was leaning towards was graige (not sure of the spelling Sherwin Williams carries it), a cross between gray and beige.

I agree, the Pearl is too yellow. Still trying to decide between the Antique Parchment and Linen :). I reached a new low as I knocked on doors in the rain, asking if I could hold paint samples up to trim. For better or worse I told the installer we'd use the Teakwood! I felt relieved for about a minute....and then started thinking things like: is it too dark? Is there a PURPLE undertone???? Is the finish too flat? Ha! I might be certifiable! Wish I was someone who didn't care. I might have an ugly house, but I'd be blissfully oblivious :) Well, I guess another option would be having enough money to hire someone like Maria Killam... This line of siding is special order (the warehouse doesn't stock it yet), so we needed to order in advance. I worked up enough nerve to ask our installer (a relative) if the trim wrap was special order, too. It's not, so I have more time to think over the trim color! It's been rainy today and yesterday, so I'm especially glad to have more time since I'd like to be sure I like the trim color when there is some sun. I really wish we could do it all a step at a time - windows installed first, then siding up, then pick a trim color. Seems like it would be easier than trying to envision it ALL. Wow, thank you for all of these suggestions. Celerygirl, I had to chuckle because the first color you posted was what I was going for at first, then a neighbor painted theirs almost the same color. To be honest, just about any dark color I put with it looks good, but my goodness it'd hard trying to be a bit different than everyone else around here, lol. The second color is definitely a possibility. Patricia, I had a color similar to that picked out; BM Sioux Falls, but was struggling, again, on the trim issue. We have had green trim for the last 30 years, so I wanted to get away from that. Then I tried different shades of green, blues, green-blues, anything but white. I just could not get that Aha! color to go with the Sioux Falls, which I really liked. What green is that? And any ideas on a trim color that maybe I'm missing? housaon, I really love your pick of dark pewter, but I am concerned living in the PNW it will be too dark during the months of gray wet days we get. I agree a dark trim looks good. I keep searching the internet for pics, but most every house with a dark exterior has white trim, so I just can't get a good bead on it. Am I overthinking this? By fall I really don't have much green as far as plants go because I cut them down for winter. I have been thinking of putting a long narrow pergola across the front, under the two plain upper windows, to break up that stretch of wall a bit. I would plant clematis on either side to grow towards the middle. If I were proficient in MS Paint I would try to show that, but I am really terrible at that. I have been re-landscaping the front yard just for this. I do have another question though. If I don't want white trim, which around here would be a nightmare with all of our neighbors trees, what colors do you suggest? In your opinions, is a dark trim too foreboding, even though it's pretty? We don't have to worry about curb appeal right now. We have been in this house 40 years, and will probably die here. But I also don't want people driving by and going "Ewwww" either. Thank you so much. I really do appreciate it. P.S. Previous colors of this house has been: Light blur, yellow-green, rajneeshee red (my fault), and current off white. Yes, it has seen some baaad colors.
