Help with family room re-do
Comments (2)Since this room is open to and shares walls with the dinette and kitchen the paint will have carry through to all the rooms. I have some samples and swatches, and I have a pretty good idea of the neutral tan color. My favorite color is green, the hardwood floors are red oak, and most of the furniture in the other rooms is medium cherry. I will definitely be getting a solid color for the upholstered furniture and probably the curtains. I want to bring in some extra colors with pillows in prints and solids as well as the rug. I also like bright colored art work and accessories....See MoreHelp with sofa colour in a mostly brown/beige family room
Comments (13)I guess I can't exactly say that your sofa does not "go" with your current rug, but I would say that currently most people would not pair the two, at least not in the U.S. That said, black/grey/white, with red is a classic combo in fashion and I am hard-pressed to call it wrong, but it is not popular, or at least not something one tends to see in current design magazines. Personally, I find it a little too harsh and jarring and night-club. Also, the sofa style is traditional and the rug pattern is modern. But if you google "red sofa living room", you will see something very similar to what you are asking about, to wit: So, the question is, do you like the room above? Do you think you would like it with less modern furniture, but the same colors and same rug? Do you care what is in style, or do you just want these colors?...See MoreHELP! Comments (13)For your two chairs, I highly recommend Bradington-Young's Marietta swivel glider tub chairs. I did their customer's own material option but they do have lots of fabric and leathers to choose from. I ordered the chairs from a local furniture store that carries that brand. Everyone that sits in the chairs loves them. My husband is tall and above average in size and thinks the chairs are the most comfortable ones in the house. The chairs have a smaller profile look but they are plenty roomy. I was so happy to see that when Bradington-Young made my chairs that they did a perfect job on pattern matching the fabric. The chairs were a bit expensive but well worth it in my opinion Here they are...See MoreNeed help decorating my family room
Comments (19)I would suggest a slightly larger glass and metal rectangular coffee table to give this room more sophistication and lightness. There is some blue in the painting and I'd use that, rather than the orange for pillows on the furniture. You can also use blue and white since you have a white area rug. You have a gorgeous kitchen and dining area. Take all the pictures and clutter off the TV console and around the bottom of the fireplace. Have just a very few well-thought-out pieces on the mantel under the picture, nothing else. You do need a much larger console for the TV, but please don't use that area for family photographs. You could have a small table next to the chair by the window after you've cleaned up that area, and a have a few photos there in silver-colored frames, not wood. I see TV wires hanging down and that needs to be fixed. Unless you need the privacy and light control I'm not sure I would cover up these windows....See MoreRelated Professionals
