Comments (10)I would go to a good quality paint store and explain the situation. I doubt that you would need something as high powered as a power washer indoors, but it will obviously need cleaning. Folks in the paint store should be able to help you evaluate the best solvents to remove indoor grime, whether it is vinegar or dish soap or whatever. They may also be able to suggest what other prep may help (sometimes a light sanding is suggested for painting metal, for instance) and whether the same paints used outdoors are appropriate for indoor use. I kind of like the current color since it looks a bit like it wants to be wood paneling which would be a more expected finish. I think you will want some type of scaffolding to reach the whole wall....See MoreUpdating recently purchased mid century modern home exterior?
Comments (25)That's a wonderful first home and looks well maintained - congratulations. From the examples you've been given, I would go with one of the darker greens, or darker brown. My own single story MCM is dark unsweetened chocolate brown - all of it, no brick other than built in planters in front - and in searching back through neighborhood photos, has been this color since built 1955. I have no plans to change it. I like the way it blends into the landscape as though a part of it, and not something just dropped into place from somewhere else ;0) I think blue would have that effect on your home with the treed background. One thing the PO had done here was paint the underside of the soffits warm white. I think if the darker color, it would appear a little dark when inside looking out...you might want to keep that in mind when painting along your parking and basketball hoop area and keep the part the overhangs the brick light colored on the underside. No one will notice from outdoors....See MoreWhich light fixture for my mid century modern home?
Comments (4)I like the first light fixture better. (Nothing to do with MCM meaning my opinion isn’t based on that...)...See MorePaint color for handrails in mid-century modern home -- TEAL color????
Comments (19)Thanks for your comments, all! So now we've decided against the teal and I'm glad about that!!! Thank you!!! And now we're choosing between the SW Tricolor Black and SW Urbane Bronze. And you can see both on the railing in this photo. We feel that black on the handrail and on the grab bar across from the handrail, will feel too strong and jarring with the white spindles, SW Balboa Mist on the walls, and this color floor https://www.calibamboo.com/product-legends-golden-hour-oak-durable-vinyl-flooring-7902600201.html. So....we are leaning toward Urbane Bronze which is the color on the right in the photo. BTW, this is the railing you see when you come into our house. Of course, this is all going to be cleaned up after this remodeling project is over!...See MoreRelated Professionals
