Possible Origins of the Irish Chain Pattern
Comments (3)I like this topic! In honor of St. Patrick's Day - very appropriate. I also like this pattern. It's so symetrical that it's restful and pleasing, no matter what colors you use. I haven't done the double or triple, although I've meant to. Here's a picture of a (sort of) Irish Chain quilt I made for my DH a few years ago. We live in Florida and he's a fan of island shirts, so I incorporated a bold fabric border at the top and bottom of this king-bed quilt. You can't see it in the photo, but the quilting on the borders follows the contours of the florals and leaves....See Morepurchasing tile online?
Comments (4)I'm also interested in knowing if anyone has experience...good or bad... buying tile online. I'm in the market for some for my kitchen renovation, but also on the hunt for a particular tile to replace the badly installed floor of the large shower in my newly purchased home. Though it's not very special, I can't find the needed 1X1 mosaic for less than $34 a square foot locally, but found it for half that at ceramictile4U.com. Even with shipping, it's a savings of a few hundred bucks. Not, of course, if it doesn't show up, shows up broken or some other disaster.... So input would be especially helpful!...See MoreIs wood possibly infected when I see “Old Looking” Hole Patterns Ext
Comments (5)I saw a Sapsucker pattern in some Semi-Dead Ash I cut/stacked as Firewood today. This pattern looked as the smaller consistent pin-holes that took our Apple tree. How do you protect trees from Sapsuckers? I saw hardware cloth once they are noticed but is that too late on a small tree? OR! Is it that dying bark from other issues attracts the Woodpeckers and Sapsuckers? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> The North TX Heat Is In and I have a good 3 Cord Harvest (my goal). The Ash attached appeared dead with seasoned cracks but larger blocks appeared green. It’s time to Reflect, Rest, Repair and Heal with Fishing, Automotive, Metalworking and Weekly Volunteering (Habitat/Meals On Wheels/Etc) out of my weekly mix. ALL my Seasonal Chores have run together and I had to let some of the Fun go. My Body Is Saying Thank You, Thankyou, Thank you. I wonder how I kept and enjoyed the schedule as long as I did. Now I Have Time To Think and Cut Grass before too much heat comes. Thinking Will Causes Stress, Until My Winter Fires. LOL! Comments (2)As long as you accept the drawbacks, this should be OK. Of course you will check to see if the accent tiles are square edged or have a slight bevel...and if they are rated for flooring. Not all tiles can be used as floor tiles. I worry that the accent tile has a square edge that could be rather sharp if they are allowed to sit proud (too high). If they have a slight bevel or have an eased edge, this shouldn't be a problem. The other worry is that you are going to work with a tile that is not rated for flooring...and could find yourself in a rather large spot of bother when they crack and splinter, etc. So long as you have an eye out for these types of concerns (and have found them to be acceptable for use as flooring tiles) then you should be able to give this a go...so long as you recognise the possible drawbacks of lippage....See MoreRelated Professionals
