Blinds vs Roman Shades vs Cellular Shades
Comments (12)I have roman shades in the bedroom. They are mostly decorative and a bit of a nuisance to open and close. I do close them at night, but have to fuss with the folds every morning when pulling them up. Light leaks in around the edges. I guess there are various kinds of roman shades. Mine are zero fuss and fit close to the edges and are cordless, top-down bottom-up. Even without the side panels mine are close to the edge in an inside mount. measured to fit. You may be referring to more designer custom fabric-y style roman shades???...See Morehow hard can it be?
Comments (2)" I should be able to do this, right?" Absolutely! The internet is a wonderful thing and you will find all kinds of directions and info on how to sew anything you want to. I don't know anything about the machine you are thinking of getting but I know Husqvarna makes really good machines. so that is a good start. Check out this link to how to make roman shades out of mini blinds. I haven't done this but a friend did and hers turned out great and she isn't much of a sewer at all! Good luck and you can do it! Comments (10)Generally speaking-I'd go with curtains here. Easier to open sliding windows, easier to keep open/shut/half way open..I think the room will benefit from longer vertical treatments..unless of course the windows are so wide-and you mention them being big..that standard panels won't work and you're into custom territory. If you can sew-that's one thing..if you prefer it being made for you-very expensive, and it's cheaper to go with shades, even though these also will be semi custom, cut to size and all. If going with shades-I'd also examine smth like woven ones. They give this feeling of warmth, almost like fabric does. Depends on one's style of course, but you seem to prefer fabrics, and cozy feel. They come in different colors(limited range but still a range) and textures differ too. There are several people here that are especially knowledgeable in evererything window treatments..I hope they see the thread too, and chime in....See MoreRoman blinds outside mount? Or drapery
Comments (1)Window #2 would look fabulous (bed too) with drapes hung higher and wider to create a dramatic fabric wall. Great opportunity to add color or pattern to room and hide a less than stellar view. I would then use drapes on the other windows instead of the Roman shades....See MoreRelated Professionals
