help pls: entry door w adj closet - swing out? dummy sidelite
Comments (18)Thanks Lyfia! All three ideas could work well. The closet wall currently would be between the two transom windows, so it wouldn't block either. Still, I especially like your idea of putting in a nice PAX closet, at least initially. A 59" (or 49") PAX closet, with a bench or plant in front of the left sidelite. I think that could work very well (if DH will be willing to be unconventional. I'm from Europe, so I'm quite used to wardrobes and no closets). I've been wanting to do a closet organizer anyway, so PAX could accomplish that. And, as you'd said, it means we could see what the space really feels like after we move in. This makes me wonder whether the entry door should be 2'8" rather than 3'0" wide. A smaller door might make the space feel larger ... and would leave more of the closet accessible. I'd assumed that 3' was more practical for bringing in fridges, couches, etc. But if 2'8" is a standard, then there must be other ways movers cope with massive furniture. Thanks! Very interesting ideas for me to sleep on. :-) (Yawn)....See MorePlease help choose glass pattern for large sliding closet doors

Comments (12)I would hate the door swing into the sink area in cpartists drawing. I also do not like to have a toilet so near my showering egress, this is just a silly idiosyncrasy of mine. Do you prefer a walkin closet to a decent master bath? If so cp's ideas with a pocket door would work for you. I prefer my breathing room in the bathroom rather than a closet. my reach in pax wardrobes are not all lined up on one wall but rather we have his and her sides with mine flanking my side of a vanity and his flanking his side...it is unconventional but after realizing that fifty square ft was not enough for a good bathroom nor closet it was our best compromise. after having very little closet space in my 1920 home I find my set up really nice. Here were my inspiration pics where I got my idea to incorporate a dressing room into a shower room. in the 20s,when my house was built, the master would not usually have a bath attached but many had dressing rooms with wardrobes and sinks. I did not want my bathroom to look like a bathroom but rather a dressing room from my bedroom. From a Sears kit house plan. these are existing orginal dressing rooms although I did not copy this cool set up I emulated the idea of two closets flanking a sink dressing area. Here is my sink flanked by 60" of wardrobes on each side. My room is 13x8 with Windows on all three exterior walls. 3x6 shower behind the bench could be a shower tub combo easily....See MoreHelp! Comments (7)I have done this and though not conventionally popular I love having my clothes near my shower but I have always dressed in the bathroom . I had a 104 sq ft area to fit a master bath and closet area and three large windows on three walls to keep the addition fitting to the rest of my older home and all plans that gave me a separate bath and closet all seemed to cramped in both spaces so we decided to make our new room look like an old fashion dressing room with a sink. The toilet is private, the ceilings are high and my fan is sized right for the room . My mirror does not even steam after a twenty plus minute shower set at 10O degrees. So no issue with moisture or orders. Do your towels and TP get dank in your present bath room? Is there more than expected moisture presenting in excess mold or a warped vanity? If not I think any closed wardrobes would work well. I prefer the clean line of closed wardrobes personally. I used IKEA pax and a year after install we have no issues with moisture. The frames are melamine I think and doors are hemnes wood in white stain. They hold so much and I prefer them to the walk in open storage I had in my last house. I like doors to give a sense of order in the room....See Moreharpua728
