I would like to revisit the question of Karhs 3-strip. I am consdiering the Karhs 3-strip in Red Oak Denver (maybe a white oak instead) and would like to hear from those who have used this or the 2-strip product. I am looking at this as a floating floor in my liv rm and kitchen. About 500 square feet condo in CA. Desperately looking for Kahrs hardflooring, specifically, 100 square feet (but will setlle for a lesser amount of Cliff Oak ( https://www.flooring.org/Kahrs-Unity-Cliff-Oak-1-strip) which is a discontinued finish in their Unity collection. The flooring is needed to repair water-damaged panels in my condo, which is only 2.5 years old, so this particular finish had to have been discontinued sometime in the past two and half years. If you have any remaining stock or know of anyone who does, please contact me.

OK...here's where the COST is coming from. And believe me the OIL finish (not polyurethane) is going to cost you more in time and effort than you would ever think possible! Surface treatment: Oil This floor should be oiled immediately after installation. The floor you want has MORE effort into it than most people want. As soon as you ditch the 'oil' surface you will drop the price. The BIGGEST cost issue = the WIDTH = 187mm = 7.33" wide. That is a SUPER WIDE product. That's where your costs are coming in!!!! You drop that to 4" (yep...cut it in half) and you will loose $3/sf. Easily. The other issue with REALLY wide = you must have full glue installation. This adds another $1-$2/sf for the install. By reducing the WIDTH of the plank you make it cheaper to install = win-win. Now...the Kahrs is German/European quality. That's what is holding up at least $5/sf of the cost. So be aware that your other choice (non European) is probably not going to have the same level of quality.
