Comments (3)Just FYI, I have a triple window (not a bay window) that I put three wood blinds on one headrail. I ordered them from American Blind and Wallpaper. The advantage to having three blinds on one headrail it all the slats are supposed to be alligned at the same level and there is one wood valance than spans the entire length. However, one of the problems I have with mine is the blind slats are so close together that when I try to raise one blind, it gets hung up on the one next to it. I do like the one valance, however I think you could custom order that through any blind dealer if you choose to do three separate blinds. I think a 70 x 70 blind would be quite heavy. When I raise my 33x70 wood blinds, I need to use a second hand to support the bottom weight while pulling the lift cord. Faux wood blinds are heavier than real wood blinds - I have both in my house. Many manufacturers have a system (some call it "easy rise") for larger blinds to make them easier to lift. I think one blind would look nicer than three. Also, you may want to consider slat size. Since it is a large window, a larger slat size will look less busy and will be lighter. However, the headrail will be deeper with a bigger slat size. Hope this info helps....See MoreWood blinds & casement windows
Comments (5)Thanks, I think a mistake people make on windows is overlooking the trim during planning. I would have made this same mistake, thankfully our builder was VERY attentive to details. I originally was going to "picture frame" everything and not much else. For a relatively small increase in cost, he turned our trim carpenter loose and the results are really impressive. Everyone makes positive comments on the trim, including our Marvin Salesman who commented that this is a lost art and that people think high end means high ceilings and big rooms....See MoreBest Source for Wood Window Blinds and Shutters
Comments (2)I did plantation shutters and was amazed at the price difference from place to place. I ended up with a local dealer for Hunter Douglas and most of the other well known brands. He told me he increased his customer base because he was able to decrease his price greatly and still make a decent price due to no overhead. I actually found him on CL but checked through BBB and several references. His prices were a lot less than JCPenney's "sale" prices. I found Home Depot and Lowe's to be the most expensive although I know others who have shopped there and have been happy. I was absolutely shopping for the best price. I'm in NC so if that is any help to you, let me know and I'll send you his name. The Shutters themselves were from Southern Custom Shutters or something similar. I went with the faux wood and love the clean look of them....See MoreRelated Professionals
