First, what are HST and DST?

Tatts - Yes, this is our quilting forum. You might have ended up in a different forum than you intended but our group has been here quilting for a long time.

Karen, those HSTs (half square triangles) are a find. I use a lot of black in background. You can put them with plain black panels and create an art piece. Would love to see what you come up with.

All the patches and pieces are beautiful! How fortunate you were to “inherit” them!

In the past few months I’ve been in a “get real” downsizing and purging mode of my sewing/craft room.

I’ve donated a lot fabrics, kits, and partially worked projects recently. I would love to know if the new owners are enjoying them.

This is showing up in the Design Dilemma forum--that's the only forum I've ever been to here.

If you'd take a breath & calm down a bit, while you look up at top of post where it shows TWO Forums: Quilting AND Design Dilemma.

You might at least have apologized for your rude & over-reactive response, considering it's YOU who didn't know where you were posting.

Not rude just confused why it would post on disign dilemma at all.

My computer doesn't show the design dilemma forum at the top so Houzz might have a problem here.

Houzz seems to be trying to offer multiple forums on which to post now when one writes a thread.

So as I made the initial post, for some reason, it (the Program) checked a box abt Flooring, like I wanted that Forum too. Well it's not abt Flooring, if anything it's a Design question for my fellow quilters abt my choosing btwn QST or HST, which terms our experienced quilters here DO know. So I chose Design Dilemma, guess I won't do that again.

They are a find. Which way is the grain? You could do QST and set on point. With something like this, I like to go to my books and magazines, because there are so many cool patterns that don’t come to mind right off the bat. Do you have any other yardage, FQs or scraps you could throw in?

Could you use them to make flying geese? Maybe a border?

Here's the pic I just took under lights at night to give an idea of the grouping.

They're stacked by different designs &/or colorways. While they're neither my style or color choice, they're quite graphic & dynamic, it'll be a BOLD something, whatever I make.

Latif, these seem too small to worry abt grain, I can't pull them to check since they're so small, they'd skew badly w/ that long bias edge.

Here's a clear example of what I meant earlier abt maybe using the QST for the added advantage of being able to alternate them directionally. I realized later my pic under that comment didn't match what I said.

Well Caroline, if I'm any example, I do hope someone is working to finish your partial projects.

If I can match the black I might try to alternate blocks of the prints w/ black panels as suggested (thx). Guess I've got some time to think abt it.

How big do you want to make it? Do you hand quilt? Here’s an off-the-wall idea: make a solid black center with sashiko quilting and then do flying geese with black and your finds. You could color match the quilting thread to your fabrics.

i love finds because they force you to think outside your comfort zone. I used to buy scrap boxes from Fat Quarter Shop just to get myself to try different colors and patterns.

I have accidentally posted to the quilting forum when I meant to post to Design Dilemma. That's because I always have quilting forum open in my bookmarks so I can check the new messages each day. Then I also check the DD box when asked by Houzz and wind up posting to both forums. Sometimes I have brain freeze.lol.

Well I tried mightily to resist, but played w/ these some last night & here I am tonight. Look what I've been doing tonight. I am beyond smitten.

Was thinking to make small blocks of 2 x 2 of these blocks to alternate w/ blocks of black, quilted in these same lines as the piecing in this block. But these formed into 3 x 3 squares instead. May try & do the same, guess it'll depend on how much of this stuff I have, a lot it seems, just wasn't planning on working on it now. But as the Gourmet Quilter likes to say, they're Delicious!

I just thought I'd come by & tease a little bit. Here's what's been on the wall now for a while now. Waiting its turn to be worked on ... sigh

That background isn't anything particular, just what's on the wall large enough for portability, in case I wish to move the larger assemblage.

I think it's going to be so much fun!
