Foyer paint foibles

We are having the hardest time choosing a paint color for our foyer! We are drawn to Sherwin Williams’ coastal collection. The dining room is comfort gray, the family room is sea salt, and the kitchen is unique gray. Right now the foyer is covered in outdated wallpaper from the previous owner. The foyer floor is a light gray porcelain tile. The foyer is 2 stories high with a bridal staircase. There are solid French doors between the foyer and dining room. The family room is connected to the foyer in the opposite direction, and the kitchen area is down a short hall from the foyer. A friend told me we MUST choose one of those existing colors, otherwise we will have too many colors on one floor. Any advice?

Oh, and one more thing... we also need a new stair runner. Should we choose a stair runner AFTER we decide on a paint color? Or should we find a stair runner we love and then find a paint color that works with that?

Thanks!
