Painted Fiberglass vs Painted Steel Entry Door Maintenance

Hi!

Because our door is southern facing and partially exposed we are limited to non-wood options for our entry door. We are going for a modern look and are trying to choose between smooth painted steel and smooth painted fiberglass options. Both cost around $2K.

Option 1 is the Provia 115 Legacy Steel Door, which comes factory painted. Unfortunately the door frame finish is an ugly texture rather than the matching the smooth finish of the door:

Option 2 is an unpainted (primed only) fiberglass door from Doors and More:

I'm hoping you can share some opinions about how these two options compare regarding maintenance. My web research and speaking to a few sales reps indicates steel has greater risk of denting and rust, but fiberglass needs to be repainted more frequently.

How often should we expect to need to repaint the fiberglass door that we will paint ourselves? The factory finished Provia door has a 7 year warranty on paint.
