I need help decorating my long entryway?!?
Comments (7)I would use a different light fixture to draw the eye up. I can't really tell what you have now, it looks like a blob of light on my monitor. Use a very attractive light fixture in your style, hung lower, to grab attention. Then get a very attractive long runner. I like the idea of a console table with stools underneath it. I have no idea of your style so here are a couple of examples in two widely different styles. Wallpaper treatment above the wainscoting might be just the thing to bring the eye up too. ^I was thinking softer upholstered stools, but this type of garden stool works with this decor IMO. ^Art rather than a mirror like Patricia Colwell said in her post....See MoreNeed help decorating "unused" entry way!
Comments (7)What you have isn't bad. I like that your mirror echoes your arched window. The table seems a good width for the space. Maybe hang the mirror on the wall, add a taller buffet style lamp making it a bit more cozy and less objects. You could paint the table and also the back of your door to add color to go along with the rest of your home. When choosing a rug, I would tend to go a bit larger than too small. Make sure it's a low enough pile so that you're still able to open your front door....See MoreNeed help choosing entry way rug that blends with living/dining.
Comments (27)I would suggest you use a rug that covers more of the foyer area...perhaps a tufted wool with and oriental pattern that sort of fits with architecture of your home...a smallish pattern with varied colors will hold up to entry traffic better than a solid...and at the same time a small runner can be purchased in the same color and pattern...I am not sure it needs to match the other rugs ...as the foyer seems big enough to be considered a separate room...with out pictures it is hard to be sure....but the foyer is the introduction to your home and sets the expectations for the rest of the house...See MoreNeed help decorating an entryway/living room in a rental.
Comments (22)My favorite is Mid-Century Modern as well! But not what the bf wants. When I think of western, farmhouse, cabin, rustic comes to mind. His dad was a professional bull rider and he wants pictures of cows/cowboys, outdoors. But he doesn't want Native American print (I had to coerce him in getting the rug). Everything could be reclaimed barn wood if he had it his way, I just want more color and textures to break it all up. I'm even down for an eclectic mix of items as long as it blends.....but is that even possible?...See MoreL L
