Help brighten up my living room
Comments (10)Have you considered pulling your furniture away from the walls? I know that is not going to make it brighter but just something I noticed. I too think a rug would look great and lighten the space with some color. Try a polypropylene rug. We have pets and ours hold up well. I have a friend with 4 kids and her rugs always look nice. Just make sure to clean up spills when they happen. Esale rugs has many to choose from and great prices along with free shipping. I would add some lamps next to the couch and maybe try another floor lamp next to the chair... or you could find a small side table and place a lamp on it. Lamps are very important for ambiance lighting. Rooms look more bright and balanced when you have a lighting source that is not just from overhead. You have a lovely space and I am sure with a few changes you can brighten it up!...See MoreBrighten and improve drab rental living room
Comments (18)I think it is just a matter of striving for better balance in the room. The two bookcases counter balance the fireplace nicely, but they could use a coat of happy paint. I'd like to see the fireplace focal point clearly visible from the entrance. I'm thinking I'd change the cherry red pillows and 80's lamps for new ones. The right color for the pillows and bookcases could add a lot more happy to the space. You have two tables that seem pretty useless and too tall to work with any of the seating. Do I see a bench in the foyer? I'm thinking the tall writing table would look good there, unless the bench is needed for removing shoes and boots. It may be a winter thing and you can change it out in summer. I'd want to see the clock on the wall where the tall table and art are. Hang a piece of art centered 5' above the floor right of the bookcases. Would the cedar chest work as a bench at the foot of his bed? TV is too wide for the TV stand, but putting it on the chest looks "make do" and doesn't enhance anything. Looks like his chair is a swivel rocker, so it can be moved and still view the TV from almost anywhere. If it fits, I'd try the sofa floating out in front of that wall behind his chair and move the two chairs. Pink one right of the FP and blue one directly between the bookcases and FP. Of course, it will have to clear the coffee table. If you replace any tables use the chart below to get the height right for the seating....See Morehow to brighten this living room
Comments (31)Yes, we both like simple things and modern clean lines. I was thinking about blinds because the window is directly over the couch. I apologize i have not been able to post the entire room, but we have just received the furniture and everything is a mess right now. But i saw the tv console and felt overwhelmed so decided to try to sort out thar first. I really appreciate all the input....See MoreNeed help brightening and cozying up a dark, tiled living room.
Comments (14)The simplest and best solution is more lighting in your room. Add floor lamps or tables and table lamps on ends of sofas; change lamp next to TV Or add wall lamps where you think best. There are so many variations on bulb brightness and color and intensity nowadays. There are fixtures available to add under your kitchen counters to improve the light on your kitchen work surfaces. Any good Home Depot or Lowe's or Batteries and Bulbs Store can offer you the help you need. Lighting is basic; the size of your rug will not improve your lighting....See MoreBeverlyFLADeziner
