My Kitchen Facelift Journey part2
Comments (95)Excellent news in the greenhaven house!!! I do not remember who it was that made the comment about my being able to shingle a house, but I was desperately afraid that was gong to become prophetic after we started losing shingles in the wind storms about a month ago. Well, I found a local guy who does roofing, he came out and gave a very reasonable estimate and said they do all kinds of work. "Oh really?" I asked, "What kind of all kinds of things? Like...tiling?" "Sure! We just finished a beautiful tiling job, we do a LOT of it." Wahoo! Invite that man in to give me a quote on my backsplash, yes please! So not only did I find someone to fix the roof he is going to do my backsplash, too. I am SO relieved. I truly believe i *could* do it. But I don't wanna. Truly. So happy!...See MoreWhite Kichen Facelift Reveal
Comments (65)WOW - your kitchen is really pretty! That's so amazing that he was able to take regular cabinets and make them extend to the ceiling! Even with the second picture showing it in progress, I am still confused how he really did it, but it doesn't matter. I like the island top, too. I just realized I could incorporate one feature you have - there is a great towel bar on the end of your island. I won't have an island, but I do have a base end cabinet near the cooktop on my sink run that would be a great spot for a towel bar. Thank you for the idea!...See MoreMy attempt of my Kitchen reveal! Comments (36)Inspired - Love what you did with your kitchen. It all flows together beautifully. I love those custom colors - It is so much fun figuring out the color that works. Great job on the toe kick areas, island, and more! Now, how about some interior drawer and cabinet pictures. Congratulations! A2gemini...See MoreCan I pull off a facelift in my kitchen?
Comments (22)Your kitchen cabinets are the same color as mine. I'm looking to update my kitchen as well so I've looked at way too many quartz patterns to count. I'm looking for a more transitional look myself and one of the colors on my short list is Hanstone Aspen. It's got a bit of veining but not as much as some of the quartzes that are made to look like marble. It's not a stark white, but more of a taupe/off white. I don't think a bright white counter would work with your warm floors. If you want modern, I would go with slab doors like your inspiration picture. When I was pricing out new doors, I found that slab were less expensive than ones with decorative trim. My kitchen faces west also and we have patio doors. The previous owners had a film put on them that filters a lot of the light and sun but we're still able to see out of them. It helps a ton. If you don't need the privacy I would get rid of the window treatments all together. Do you need the cabinets above the peninsula? From your photo, it looks like decorative items in there, so if they're not needed, I would take them down. It would really open up the space....See Moremark_rachel
