It never looks good to corner a TV. Where else could it go? Is that a slider left of it or just a window? I would put the TV opposite the window with the sofa facing the FP and the chair where the TV is now.

It is just a regular window to the left. Thanks for your advice! I wasn't sure if the TV under the loft railing would look OK. I'm hoping to get new furniture as well. Thanks again!

When you get new pieces, consider a smaller sofa, perhaps 84" long, no longer, and 36 to 39" deep. Place it facing the fireplace. That will give you 42" for traffic and furniture on either side of the sofa. So then you could place 2 comfortable chairs (approx 33 wide x 34" deep) on the window wall, with a round table between them. They will face the TV which will be on the wall under the loft.

You may then be able to add 2 chairs flanking the fireplace, or perhaps two poufs instead. The TV will be placed on the wall above a console, or on the console itself.

I think your layout is workable. I don't suggest a tv across the window; the glare/darkness tradeoff is terrible. And the sofa would look better right up against a wall than curtains. Speaking of which, it's not a large space, so the sofa needs to be close to the wall, but it would help to pull it a bit further in. A few inches would help a lot. Consider a longer table for the tv, it would have to be more angled than the current one is. A coffee table and large area rug with some colour would help though, can you get some? Look out for some art to go above the mantle too, and make the decor there bolder

I'm hoping that a window covering will cut down on glare, or that you'll mostly be watching TV at night. Shutters, shades, or heavier draperies would help.

Thanks everyone! The current couch is 84" long. We moved it over to get an idea and I do think it could work. Still a walkway between back of couch and kitchen table. Does anyone recommend placing the TV over the fireplace? Not our first choice but seems to free up floor space....

We have our TV opposite a wall of windows and have shutters on the windows which we close as needed for privacy or TV viewing. A lot of people like a TV above the fireplace, though I'd be concerned about sore necks and damage to the TV from fireplace heat. My son and wife and 4 kids watch a TV above their fireplace and have no complaints.

I think that 2 chairs in front of a window work better than a sofa.

Since that's a window, I think two chairs and a table and lamp there will work with the sofa facing the fireplace. Avoid over the FP TV if you can.

If you put the TV on the long wall across from the windows, you can get a much larger one. If there's a man in the house, he'll owe you big time.

Agree with most comments here. TV opposite windows with darkening blind option. TV over fireplace in small space is tough, especially the closer you sit. If you have enough depth, you may be able to have a console table behind sofa.

In this room, I would put the TV over the fireplace. Perhaps a larger TV but placed over the fireplace, it could be viewed from the kitchen and dining area as well and would free up the limited wall space.

I don't like it. There are exceptions but most open up the worm can of:

Heat damage
Smoke on the screen
Unappealing aesthetics; seldom balanced out with other decor
Craning you neck at unnatural degrees for long perods of time, on a continual basis. Guidelines I've come across are that the centre of the screen should be no lower than 7 degrees below your eye-level, and no higher than 15 degrees above.

You can put the tv above on a lowerable hinged stand. But only use it like that when the fireplace is not in use of course.
You can put the tv opposite the window. I have that layout, while it's not ideal, it's workable.
You can... unlikely... Get rid of, or alter the fireplace, or relocate the tv to another room
