Let me know what you think of this floor plan...
Comments (34)I know you are all going to think I have totally lost my mind... I took a ton of advise off of this website and from some of my friends and made some changes to the plans. Please look again and let me know. I have added a door in the garage, and I am in the process of moving out the master bedroom and deck another 2'. This will give my covered deck a total of 8.5' x 12'. We will use the open portion of the deck way more than the covered... Thanks again for all the input. I think I am liking the idea of the closet in the bathroom more and more. My wife likes to turn on the light so she can trapse around the bedroom to bath to closet to bedroom to closet to bath to bedroom... (she shares a closet with my daughter right now so my daughter is going to be happy to get her out of her room) The link is below, as usual I don't know how you are able to post pictures... someone please inform me. http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii176/saftgeek/plans_2-29_Page_2.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii176/saftgeek/house_2-29-2008_Page_1.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii176/saftgeek/house_2-29-2008_Page_2.jpg Saftgeek...See MoreDo you think this bed is too old fashioned for a boy's room?
Comments (18)yea! I'm so glad I asked here. It has really pretty Greek key pattern inlaid (which I'm sucker for) and the side rails are attached to headboard/footboard by a turning bolt instead of the hook-on hardware. Here's a close up of the details I have some David Hick fabric (Fiorentina pattern in chocolate print on deep blue back ground) which I am thinking of using for throw pillows. Don't know if that is too much. (fabric on left chair) I know this is very far from Plane Train & Automobile but it's never too early to start a boy off on the right (design) path! :-) Thanks again....See MoreOh boy...what do you think?
Comments (11)How much water do you actually haul around? Are you a canner or do you boil a lot of pasta? Those are my two biggest generators of pots of hot water. I also put custard casserole into a pan of water in oven and I put a pressure cooker under a stream of cold water to cool it down. None of these would be any easier with a little sink nearby because the sink wouldn't give me control and safety. Nice to have water and drain close at hand when canning but you can't control the hot water if you're pouring it into a small target (at the very least I'd have to let it cool down before pouring it into sink, or I'd ladle it in. Similarly, if you make pasta frequently, will you simply be avoiding the walk to another sink to strain it into a colander which has to be immediately carried to another area anyway? You will still need to lift the hot pan of liquid and again, you will be aiming into a small area with an armful of hot liquid to control in splash. Erickanh's small sink is interesting--best of this kind of thing that I've seen, in part because the faucet cranks back against the wall so it's out of the way. Would love to know how this installation is faring in real life. Is there a temptation to put dirty items into sink and to make it act as a second cleanup sink? Would you rather have area adjacent to range be plunk space? I know how I cook and I'd miss the plunk space....See MoreWould you let me know what you think?
Comments (80)Ok, I'll rework the plan. My husband is adamant about keeping the double doors. I had to fight to get rid of the extra 2 ft of windows on either side of the door. So I have to stick with a 6 ft opening for French doors. You all confirmed my hesitation regarding the skylights, I was so afraid of glaring sun coming in. Regarding raising the ceilings, if we do the kitchen, I believe we will be stuck doing the entire room (which is not a bad thing if we had a lot of extra $$$.) but we don't. like I said, the soffits and fan are going bye bye, raising it to 8 1/2 ft like the rest of the room. I don't have a floor plan on the current state. We are literally tearing down walls to start from scratch. I'll try to do a rough outline of the walls that are staying. Happy Sunday everyone!...See MoreLila
