Omar knows I wuv him. :-) But if he gets snarky he won't get the plants I'm holding hostage. HA!

I'm not sure what I'm bringing. I just want to see my garden friends and chat some. Looking forward to meeting new ones too.

Just a few more days before the swap. Want to remind everyone that we need a $1 donation to pay for the park rental. Please do not park in front of people’s driveways and mailboxes!

Does anyone want water plants? I have water celery, water clover, yellow water iris that I can separate. Weather forecast is chilly Saturday morning, can’t wait to see you all there!

I was born snarky. Those Philippines violets are mine, mine, mine!!

Nah, is not fear. It's a way to better handle my gardening activities. Even without going to the swap I already have about 50 plants waiting to be planted, plus the extras I need to dig out to give away to friends and neighbors. On top of that, I am also behind on sowing plants that I really want. I already have the seeds, so I have to do it. That means more plants my way. Crazy mess.

Haha did I meet you Omar at 1 of the swaps last year? Think I got a red hibiscus type plant or something from you?

  • castro_gardener

But Omar.... WE are your friends and neighbors. We want those extra plants that you need to dig out and give away. We are all like you, a crazy mess of plants and pots and needing more room in our full yards! We want to see you! .....and it's not just the Phil Violets I hold hostage..... I went to Ragna's yesterday ! Guess what she gave me to bring for you ? Some really wonderful things ! I guess I could just trade them for something I want from Darlene or Allison. Hmmmmmm.

Ahggggg, Patty!! You better send everything with Charlotte! :D

Shellshok, yes we met once and I took several hibiscus moscheutos to the swap that time. I think that was 2-3 years ago.

Allison: Would like to have a rooted cutting of hibiscus 'Cosmic Dancer' if you have one left and if I have anything for you in my list. Adding a white Lilly plat of 1 and half feet tall to my list.

Does anyway have any variegated Japanese knotweed they can share? I used to grow it, but lost it somehow. When you lose a potentially invasive weed you know things are bad! LOL Anyway it looks great trailing out of pots.

I won't be attending this swap; I'm claiming my "Omar rights" ;-) but if you have it we'll figure something out. I'm planning to make it in the fall.

As Lorelei mentioned it's gonna' be coolish and windy on Saturday so take your sweaters.

Is there anyone who is NOT able to come because of weather on Friday afternoon/evening ??? If so, please let us know. It looks like most of the bad weather will be east of Hwy 35, so I hope everyone is in the clear !! Everyone coming Saturday morning, we should be good, just a little coolness! :-)

  • texaspinkpixie

Ok, the weather may be an issue for me only because I am a nurse and will be bringing my charge with me to the swap. I will know more tomorrow but if I cannot go I've already arranged to have a friend take my swaps up to everyone. It's too late in the week to get time off and i can't in good conscience take her out for a long ride with miserable weather trapping her in the car for hours.

I'm doing a final inventory (and messages) of trade plants right now so if there is anything I have that anyone wants ...speak now or forever hold your peas :)

  • castro_gardener

Becca, if you're coming on saturday you should be okay.

  • texaspinkpixie

That's what I'm hoping for. We are out in Blanco county so it's a good little jaunt to get there and back so she has got to be able to get out of the car while we are there. I'm going to see if I can negotiate the morning off just in case.

It's been years since I've been out to the swap and I'm really looking forward to visiting with old and meeting new swappers.

Shellshok - I've got someone to pull apart the tree pile in the morning to see if there is a suitable specimen for your project. The big honkin trees are on the very top and I couldn't even budge them last weekend.

Also have a good amount of small sized honeycomb rocks if anyone wants any.

I don't have you down for anything for exchange for your green rose. Is there something I can bring/send for you?

  • Charlotte Green

texaspinkpixie did you have Egyptian walking onions? I would love some or some honey comb rock. I will bring fresh green rose cuttings too so there should be plenty!

I haven't had a chance to make a list of what I'm bringing but I'm coming and bringing Margie too!

A friend of mine asked if I'd go by a nursery and pick up some plants for her to swap tomorrow. What would be good, you think?

  • castro_gardener

Allison, it's hard to say because everyone has different likes. Some people go to Lowes and get things from the clearance rack. Others bring garden gloves from dollar store or Walmart. Maybe tools, too. Another good idea that we all seem to use is fertilizer! Someone once bought a large bag of osmocote, then divided it into ziploc bags for trades.

Im going through messages now. If someone wants something on my list please msg me i may not see it here. Dont forget your Tally hats or Hawaiian shirts tomorrow!!

Wow everybody!!! Thank you so much for the awesome swaps! I couldn't get in the front door for all the goodies piled in front of it. Many apologies for not being able to get there in person... alas I'm a slave to my job until retirement. I know now to request time off rather than count on docile spring weekends in April.

Is anyone planning on going to festival of flowers citywide plant exchange? I've requested that day off today bc I feel cheated :(

I had a great time! Thank you so much for all the wonderful plants. Lorelei, thank you for all the plants and the rock. Patty, you went above and beyond with those bananas. I actually got one planted yesterday at our lake house. Thank you so much! I can't wait until the next one. Oh, and the East Austin Succulents place was AWESOME! It was so hard to pick out things to bring home. I managed though :) I can't wait to go back.

Glad to see everyone again. I am enjoying my new plants. Still, haven't planted them. I had plans to do today but have two granddaughters this Monday who are sick. So I'm doing my grandma duty all day. :)

I thought I was the last to drive off, but I was on the phone getting news of a death in the family, so maybe I didn't pay attention to you carrying them out. I just remembered being the last to leave the pavilion and they were still there. Let me know if we can meet up later, Rochelle, for the things your hubby hid from you. :-)
